Cubase doesn't show files in the File Browser of the right panel

For real, it’s not funny. How hard can it be to implement a proper file browser, even FL studio and Ableton are better at this now.

Interesting topic. In your opinion, what features make a file browser a proper one?

The one that doesn’t make me waste time here trying to let the devs know it’s not working properly. And if they will keep ignoring the fact that modern production is audio-based (of loops and samples) - RIP Steinberg

Do you have samples showing the better interface? I don’t use FL or Ableton, so I haven’t seen them

Take my word for it.

Even better - check out Sononym.net, Resonic Player, or ADSR Sample Manager to see how a useful audio sample manager should work.

Once a year, I might open the default file browser out of laziness, but it fails at even displaying the files, let alone offering any additional features.

Bump, still having this issue

UPD: Does anyone know if this icon/function is present in Cubase 13? (Funtion that clears search in one click?)

Bro, this thing is really driving me nuts.

So what is the problem here? The button enables or disables folders and subfolders, it is a toggle switch.

Works fine for me.

There is nothing in that corner, just remove the search text.

Mate are you trolling me? It doesn’t work fine for me as you can see! It HIDES results for no reason.

Well, then have fun with your MediaBay… for me it works.

thank god you are not a software developer :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Thank god, that you have no idea what I’m doing, as a software developer

Thank God i’am watching this
Hola

Actually, I think I can see what the OP is getting at.
I’m using Nuendo 13 and unless I’m mistaken, the browser (F5) and the media browser in the right-side zone are the same in both N13 & C13.

However, I can see/view and play audio/midi/video in both browsers. Although my folders are viewed in the upper half of the zone and the actual files in the lower half of the right zone.

Is this what the OP is referring to?

Yes, I say that the Right Panel Browser for some unknown reason doesn’t show files that I demonstrate in Explorer. And I show Media Bay at the same Path to prove that there ARE files.

I have cleared all filters 1000% so there is no reason to show an empty panel!

Nice! Thanks! I didn’t notice that clearing filters also clears the search query. Although I am not sure if it is a good thing. I personally don’t use file type filters so it doesn’t matter to me. Bad luck for those who do use them though.

A comparison shows that the automatic analysis of audio samples in Cubase leaves a lot to be desired. Cubase seems to rely too much on the factory content (which is quite well attributed), but self-generated samples are not sufficiently analyzed and classified. In contrast, the Sononym application, for example, shows that this is easily to be done. For people (like the OP, obviously) who have a way of working that relies on the most comprehensive information possible regarding sample properties, the lack of informative data is certainly a serious obstacle in the workflow within Cubase.

I just fixed this on Windows 11 after seeing this issue post Cubase 13 upgrade. I went to Media\MediaBay and located the folder with my Yurt Samples and chose ‘Rescan Disk’

bingo, my files are back
