Cubase Download Assistant

We just need them to release an updated and working download assistant now…

Yep. Hopefully Yamaha or someone on these forums will notify Steinberg that there software has become racist and it gets fixed soon

I’m having the same problem here as others, except I’m after the full installation download. I’m upgrading from Cubase 10 Artist to Pro. So far I’ve sat through the entire 21GB download twice and had Download Assistant fail on me.

Just like Jeff’s link he posted, is there a similar link for the whole entire Cubase Pro 10 download (not just the update)?

Sent a support email to Yamaha Australia today…

Greg

DLA is a Java thing, which probably explains a lot. It does not appear to be leaving any log footprint on startup so my guess is that the JVM has run out of heap space and crashed. I’ve seen something like this before with other Java software. About time Java was sent to the scrap heap.

Finally got it to work.
Here’s what I had to do:

  1. Download DLA from Steinberg site.
  2. Install on a machine that has never had it installed before.
  3. This installation appears to work correctly.
  4. Copy the entire C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\Download Assistant\ folder to the broken installation on the second machine.
  5. Broken installation now magically works.

Must be something amiss with the upgrade process that is leaving something in a corrupted state.

Yes the patches for both DLA and Cubase Pro 10.0.50 seem to have same problem.

Come on Steinberg. Please fix your installers for Australian customers.

I am in Canberra and have had the same issues downloading SDA directly form the Steinberg website. I keep getting the message “The signature of Steinberg_Download_Assistant_1.16.2_Installer_win.exe is corrupt or invalid.” I get the same when directly downloading the 10.0.50 update. No joy in updating from SDA 1.15.0 - it just hangs.

Thanks to Jeff Price, Cubase is now updated to 10.0.50. I wonder if the AU Guvmint thinks that Steinberg and Cubase are threats to national security?

Steinberg Download ‘Assistant’ doesn’t really assist at all tbh and is in need of a proper update. It really needs to check and track the version installed and then notify you of an update itself. As it is, i have to go check my DAW and relevant plugins and libs and manually cross reference the versions to what are available in the DLA. Rather old school compared to how many other devs now do this… thoughts?!

I totally agree. If NI and Arturia can do it why can’t Steinberg.

Hi guys, i got the same issue here. im in melbourne in australia .

I downloaded the cubase download assistant, however, each time i click it, it just no response, cant even started …

so the result is : I CANT USE THE CUBASE DOWNLOAD ASSSTANT then I CANT EVEN INSTALL THE CUBASE 10 AT ALL!!!

my godness…

anybody can help me?

John

Hi guys, the problem still exist! I sent the following to Matthias at Steinberg.

“Hi Matthias, we have a major problem in Australia. We have not been able to download/use Download Assistant or the latest update. I tried downloading Cubase Pro 10.5 but was unsuccessful. Corrupted files message, the same with Download Assistant. This has been going on for about a month, other Australian users are having the same problem. Steinberg’s representatives in Australia provided a brief link to install 10.0.05. I have paid my money for the upgrade to 10.5 and would like to install this as soon as possible. This requires action ASAP, as there are a lot of Australian customers I am sure wanting to continue with Steinberg’s products. PLEASE HELP!

Larry
P.s, my computer is fully compatible with Steinberg products.”

Does anyone have contact for Yamaha Australia please?

I managed to get it to work OK using the recipe provided in my previous post. Downloaded C10.5 with no problems.
It seems that the update operation for DLA broke something, however performing a new install on another box and pulling the files across overwrote whatever badness was there. Just uninstalling and re-installing did not fix it though, I had to use another clean box.

Same problem here, I’m in Australia, I cant even open the download assistant.

I have an alternative solution should you have access to a VPN service

  1. Connect to a server outside of Australia (I chose USA)
  2. Run the Steinberg Download Assistant direction from the .jar at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\Download Assistant\app\Steinberg Download Assistant
  3. Download the update while connected server outside of Australia.

This worked for me, hopefully it can help others.

Just bought the update to 10.5 Pro, it directs you to a download to SDA which also doesn’t work. I am rage.

Thanks. Just done this and it worked fine. Annoying but good work around.

So I used a VPN as @frkinasu recomended and the SDA installed correctly. Yay. Then I downloaded the 1.3 GB 10.5 update from 10 and it got to the end, verified and… FAILED. Are you kidding me Steinberg? What is going on?

Why the heck do we need to use a VPN? It’s not as if we are downloading illegal software.

I’m attempting to download the full 10.5 now at 21 Gb. If this fails at the end I may cry a little. Please don’t make Australians cry Steinberg. We would just like to use the software that we paid for please.

same problems as the .50 update, download Assistant does not start, downloaded the update from website, also broken, are they hosting the .au files on a Vic 20 perhaps?
