I need to get into some old Cubase sessions on my old MacBook.
I used a Time Machine backup to set up an old backup and everything is in place, but I cannot get Cubase LE to load… opening the program stalls at “Initializing: VST Multitrack” and I have to force quit it to get it closed.
I checked on the old laptop that the backup comes from, and Cubase still opens on it… but, on the identical time machine backup on a second laptop, if stalls?
Mind if I ask if you’re opening a project, which then automatically tries to launch Cubase, or are you having trouble opening Cubase with the desktop icon?
I have had the same issue that you’re describing, but it happened when I was trying to open an old project - it didn’t happen when I was trying to launch Cubase by itself.
Can you confirm?
I’m afraid I can’t help you get Cubase LE1 running on a Mac, but the file format of the old sessions is still readable by the latest Cubase versions.
As an alternative, if you had registered your Cubase LE license under your account on MySteinberg, you should request a transfer of the Cubase LE license to the latest Steinberg Licensing system. This would then enable you to download the latest version of Cubase LE and run it on current versions of Mac and Windows, and be able to open your old sessions.
The only problem is getting someone in Steinberg to do that transfer for you. You should first try logging a ticket on “My Steinberg”. You should also check the following topic and add a request for Matthias, who has assisted others.
SO… I installing Cubase LE 5 (and 4, actually) and ran have run into a totally different VST puzzle…
Cubase LE 5 opens fine… I can start a new project fine, and I can enable Izotope Ozone 4 as an insert in the new, blank track.
BUT… when I go to open one of my projects originally created on CLE1, I get a warning that
“The plug-in :iZotope Ozone 4” could not be found for Master Insert “1”!"
And it opens the file fine otherwise, but with no Ozone 4… now, if I go over to the insert menu, Ozone 4 is THERE… if I select it, it opens a new Ozone 4 insert w/out any of my settings.
You can see that the one that works is in the VST Audio library, but when I try to open an older project it tries to load it from the Cubase LE 5 application contents folder.
