Hi guys!
So i just recently upgraded from pro 10 to pro 12 and i have had more more freeze/crash ctrl/alt/delete End Task scenarios using pro 12 in the last few days then i ever did using pro 10 for years.
Surely this aint normal…or am i doing something wrong here?.
How is it so unstable?
Its so frustrating because im losing work because when i re-launch cubase it did not save the progress i made pre crash and i would have to re-do all of that work again.
Any help would be great.
Regards.
Adam.

Hi,
Do you get any DMP file by any chance?
Hi Martin.
Yes they appear as “frezedump dmp” files. Sorry im quite the beginner when it comes to stuff like this.
Hi,
Could you attach the file(s), please?

Do as @Martin.Jirsak says, maybe it will help. Try updating your nvidia drivers too and the focusrite driver too.
Mostly for sure a plugin in your sessions. try freezing all your tracks just for a quick test.

Hi Pedro.
Yeah i just updated to 12.0.60 and all seems ok so far. My focusrite driver is up to date. I will check in on the nvidia situation.
Thanks!
Sorry but the easist way to make sure you don’t install any of the bloatware NviDia gives you is to UNPACK the nvidia driver , DO NOT INSTALL
Go to the device manager
find your graphics card
Update driver and point the search to the Nvidia unpacked drivers and click ok .
This is the best way to make sure NO other software gets installed with the driver

Hi,
It’s not so simple. The reason I wrote this step by step is, there are some tricks. For example of you uninstall the driver and you are connected to the internet, Windows could download and install generic graphic driver in the background. If you then try to install dedicated Nvidia driver, Windows could find out the already installed driver is newer, so it will keep the generic driver. Unfortunately you don’t really have a control what is Windows doing, so you have to do workarounds and tricks it.

Yeah NVIDIA make it really awkward and confusing to install just the audio driver. I uninstalled all the gaming junk NVIDIA installed and ended up disabling all audio devices except my Audio interface. There were a couple of NVIDIA drivers i couldnt uninstall…strange.
Cubase seems to be running good and so far no freezing. Fingers crossed.
Hi,
Do you know, when did this crash happened, please? What did you do?
I was editing midi notes and it just froze. I had to control alt delete where it stated “Not responding” so i had to end task to close the DAW.
I may have to do a plugin by plugin check to make sure nothing is causing this freeze. ALL of my plugins and software is legitimately owned/purchased i dont use or have any pirated software so this is rather confusing why this is happening.
Hi,
This crash is not in plug-in, it’s in Cubase. But make sure the plug-ins are up to date is always good.

Hi Martin.
All plugins up to date
do you think maybe a re-install of Cubase may fix this?
Hi,
You could try. As you are on Windows, make sure you install it as administrator, please.
