Since updating to Cubasis 3.8.5, I’ve been having significant performance problems when editing longer projects.
The main issue is moving audio events. In projects, dragging clips becomes extremely laggy and imprecise. The clip often seems to resist movement, jump, or respond well after my finger has moved. Zooming in sometimes improves it, but the problem returns when working at a wider view.
This is happening even in projects that do not have a particularly high track count. My workflow is mostly spoken-word/audio editing with music and sound effects, so there can be a lot of individual audio events, but the same type of projects worked much more smoothly for me before the 3.8.5 update.
It has become difficult enough that I installed Logic and may switch to that DAW.
Thanks for looking into this! Here are the details:
iPad model: iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation)
iPadOS version: 26.6
Steps to reproduce: Open a Cubasis project and try moving clips around the main timeline. The clips become noticeably laggy/choppy and don’t track smoothly with my finger. Zooming further into the timeline helps somewhat, but the issue returns at a normal working zoom level. This started after the recent Cubasis update, the same projects were much smoother before.
@riecell For what it may be worth, I have the same issue with very long projects in Cubasis 3.8.5, and it was introduced with the update. Moving audio events lags greatly, to the point of slow motion. And the events move by themselves long after letting go.
I’ve sent a test project to Steinberg where the bug occurs, so hopefully they’ll be able to reproduce the issue and look into it.
