I never thought about asking here, I just took it for what it was, but now I’m wondering: can Cubase do what I want?
It’s about mixers. I have 3 monitors. The middle one I use for the Cubase Project, has my main focus. On the left, I have the mixer where I only want to see input channels, audio and instrument/VST. On the right monitor I only wanna see my groups, my FX and my outputs.
But every time I start a new project, I have to set up my mixers exactly how I want them. But isn’t there a way to keep this standard? Or recall with a preset or something?
Of course, I’m giving you the basics, but if this works, I will use more options of course!
Hi,
set up your mixers like you want to and then create a global window layout (I hope that´s the correct name in English). Anyways, you get there with the commands “Control + Num 0” on Windows and now you can set up your preset with a name and preserve it with a personal short cut (alt + Num x). After that it is saved for all future projects. If for whatever reasons your preset gets lost (never happened to me), it is saved under “windows layouts.xml”. Just in case you might wanna have a safe copy of that file. Hope that helps, mate!
Yeah, work space sounds about right to me, cheers. I once stumbled upon a Cubase translation sheet but I forgot where to find it… and to temporarily change the language in Cubase istn´t the best idea. It comes at a price as some things will be messed up afterwards. I once learned that the hard way;)
If I turn off elements on my second mixconsole, it also turns it off on my first mixconsole. Are they not fully seperated? Am I missing a setting?
For instance: I don’t want to see the OUTPUT meter on my LEFT mixconsole, but I do want to see it on my RIGHT mixconsole. Somehow, it’s both off or both on?
Maybe something went wrong with an entry in the preferences files. Very often when Cubase behaves erratic on just one computer it is because of weird entries in the preference files.
Are you familiar on how to temporarily surpress your current preference files in order to get the factory settings back?
This might help…
Channel Type Filter nor Channel Visibility Configurations are stored in a Workspace.
Since Channel Visibility Configurations are stored in the project and not globally, I recommend setting up a template that you start your projects from.
