I often use delayed chords in my sheet music. The most common was something like C7 4—3 (where the third was above the slash where the resolution was supposed to occur). Is this possible in Dorico? I tried creating a new chord, for example Csus4 with the line -------, but then I can’t use the number instead of the chord in the next slash or measure. Please help.
You could create a dashed line with 4 as a start cap and 3 as an end cap. Then use that line as extended line style for the chord. Turn off so that it only shows sus and not sus4 under Library→Engraving Options→Chord Symbols. The line needs fine adjustment in Engrave mode, though. Alt+shift+right arrow extends the chord line in Write mode.

Here’s where a related request I had stood as of awhile ago:
As per @jesele, note Daniel’s comments in the last message about matching the font, etc.
I’ve read this before. The problem is that (smile to the software developers) it would be better to do it “automatically” than manually.
All the best
This makes a lot of sense. I’ll try it soon.

“Copy that!”
Or keep the sus4 and add a regular dashed line with a 3 as end cap.

That strikes me as “cleaner” in that the 4 is thereby guaranteed to stay in the correct relationship to the rest of the initial chord symbol. It also allows one to delay the start of the voice-leading line if desired.
OK, here’s a better solution. Keeping the sus4 and a chord extender line with a 3 at the end. Thanks @judddanby
