There is a new option for this, but enabling or disabling it doesn’t have any effect on my end. lol
Hey Tj99, thanks for the reply. At least if it’s there it’s probably coming. Maybe the fact that it’s not working for you is just a normal .0 release bug…
actually its already 13.0.10
But yeah, there is a big chance this is gonna be fixed in the upcoming 0.X updates, as thats hard to justify.
Where is the new option? I looked for this but couldn’t find anything.
Is this finally solved in 13?? Can someone please confirm this? I haven’t upgraded yet, I’m on a vacation… THIS annoys me so much I’m seeing a psychiatrist because of this
Mixconsole - vertical scrolling
At least thats what I think it is
Well, it’s unclear, to say the least. Check my thread with answers from Martin from Steinberg: Cubase 13 - Changing values with mouse wheel - #12 by sound_and_stuff
I hope you’re right but if I understand Martin from Steinberg correctly, the current behavior in C13 is as intended. Which doesn’t really makes sense in my opinion.
That makes two of us. This whole business with the scroll wheel in the mixconsole has confused me so much that I’m tempted to set up a poll about it, above all to satisfy my curiosity of what people really expect of it. But I don’t know if it’s a good time now, with 13 just having come out, with all kinds of small things that need attention here and there. The poll could be mistaken for passive-aggression, or antagonizing the developers, or such, and I don’t want that. On the other hand, the implementation is… puzzling. I don’t understand which type of user benefits from this implementation in 13.0.10.
Same here. If they could at least explain to us, what they thought when implementing it? So perhaps we could understand and use it properly? Is there something we don’t know yet, which makes the implementation any more reasonable?
“It was the best of times. It was the worst of times”. That’s how I feel about Cubase 13.
Duhhh. “Vertical scrolling”. Ok, it seems that the new preference helps with the new Channel Tab, if you have many Sections open and they don’t fit, you can use the preference to sacrifice mouse wheel parameter change for easier vertical scrolling within the upper (Sections) section of the Channel tab. Ok. I didn’t catch it because all my sections fit my mixconsole, so I don’t need to scroll vertically.
So, this request about horizontal scrolling and the fader section stills holds, I suppose? Any other ways to unwillingly change fader values apart from while scrolling horizontally?
Oh, it’s working alright. (But not for the faders. Only for the upper part, the racks)
Regardless you have it enable or not, you just have to make sure that you have the mouse over the Mute/Solo section OR Read/Write section to scroll horizontally.
Yes, because the preference is not supposed to do anything for the faders. It’s just a coincidence that it showed up in 13, it’s not a direct answer to this feature request.
It surely looks like an answer to this feature request. The way it is it seems it was left halfway done. The faders are the most critical area to be protected from the accidental mouse wheel changes. On top of it, they also occupy the biggest area making it hard to use the wheel to scroll horizontally in the console without being extra careful. If you add to this the fact that the folders don’t have a representation on the console, a session with a considerable number of tracks/channels becomes a pain to navigate.
In other words, since the faders occupy around 50 to 60 % (typically, I would say) of the console, you have to “aim” at a very narrow region to be able to scroll around without screwing your volumes. All this in return for a feature that provides no precision in changing values because mouse wheel speeds vary from mouse to mouse and are generally too fast (just try an Apple Magic Mouse to see what I mean). I know some people dig this and I don’t want to see it gone, but please guys, extend the protection from the mouse wheel to the whole console ares as a user definable option.
Seriously, I am a professional mixer and moved to Cubase recently. These stupid mouse fader movements are giving me a very hard time as I accidentally change levels or panning parameter in my session which consists of countless tracks.
I worked with Pro Tools, Ableton and Logic and every DAW has its pros and cons.
But THIS issue is really a nightmare!!
Amen!!!
Yes Totally +1
