Hi!
I upgraded from Cubase Pro 12 to 13 and all of a sudden all my fader caps are white besides the in- & output channels. Is that a “feature” or a bug ?
Everything is just plain by default. Is that wanted that you customize it yourself or did something zoinc up?
I tried to make sure to delete all old remains of Cubase 12 and reinstalled Cubase 13 multiple times, but it seems like I can’t get this to work.
Hi,
The preferences were not migrated correctly.
You can either delete Cubase 13 preferences folder to let Cubase 13 migrate Cubase 12 preferences again.
Or you can rename/remove all Cubase versions preferences folders to get the factory preferences during the next Cubase 13 folder.
Cubase Preferences folders are:
Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Cubase X
Win: %appData% \Steinberg\Cubase X _64
Where the X is the Cubase version (for example 13).
So, I can just delete the Cubase 13 folder and reinstall and then it should work ?
I deleted the folder and it just started again without the colors so it seems like it is a “feature” and not a bug
MadMarcel85:
I deleted the folder
Which folder did you delete?
Martin suggested to delete the preferences folder.
Alternatively open up v12, save preferences for colors etc., open v13, import and save… if possible.
I don’t have V12 installed any more
This needs to be done with Cubase being closed.
I would delete/rename/move the Cubase 12 preference folder first, then the Cubase 13 preference folder, then start Cubase 13 again.
I know and I did that, it still didn’t work
There are no remains of Cubase 12 left, I made sure to delete everything, because every year the new version fucks up when there are still remains of the old version
But now it seems like someone patched out the colors

What if you start Cubase in Safe Mode with preferences disabled?
Let me give that a try, how do I boot safe mode ?

To open the Safe Mode dialog, launch Cubase, and hold down Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-Alt.
I said disable preferences and it still loaded them

Yeah, that’s the option.
What was the indication that told you the preferences files were still loaded?
I customized this and tried to make it as it was and I’m pretty sure that are my settings ?!?
Just a quick info:
The fader cap colors seem to be stored in the file UserPreferences.xml
, which is inside the preferences folder.
