In Dorico for Mac I usually create piano instruments that I rename for sketching orchestral music; I tried to do the same thing in Dorico for iPad, but when I hit OK or Annulla, the app crashes.
… really Dorico crashes many many times, and it’s really slow, especially when turning back to the main “home” screen of the app, leaving without any feedback.
Hope that these issues will be solved so Dorico for iPad could be more reliable …
I’m using an iPad Pro 11 M1 (3rd gen).
Addendum:
Tried various solutions, it seems that Dorico crashes renaming instruments when I have my Logitech bluetooth keyboard connected…
Thanks for the report, @musicamultimedia. It crashes every time you click Cancel or OK in the Edit Instrument Names dialog, even with a brand new project with, say, a single player/instrument?
Yes, it was a new project, with a single piano renamed. It happens when I have a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard connected.
Could you see if you could extract the crash log files from your iPad, share them to your Mac, then zip them up and attach them here?
You can find them by going to Settings > Privacy > Analytics > Analytics Data. You will see some crash logs there whose names begin with Dorico. You can share these to your Mac to get them off your device.
Here it is.

Thanks!
Thank you – I can’t tell why Dorico is crashing from this log, but I will discuss with my colleagues and we’ll try to come back to you as and when we have any ideas as to things you might be able to try. We will of course also continue to try to reproduce this ourselves.
I don’t know if this thread is still active but I am having this issue as well. Dorico for Ipad freezes up whenever I try to change an instrument/staff name in setup mode. I close it and reopen it but that doesn’t seem to help.
Welcome to the forum, Daniel. I’m sorry to hear that Dorico for iPad is crashing for you. Could you please find the .ips crash log files on your device, share them to your computer (if possible) and then zip them up and attach them here?
You’ll find them in Settings > Privacy > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data.
