Looking at that, I think that I know where you are going with this, but I will let you make the suggestion. Before taking the screenshot, I adjusted the location of the popups on the screen so that one did not overlay the other, and both can be seen.
Please select in the driver control panel the first item as the output port instead of the second. Just make sure that you not only highlight the item, but really select it by clicking the little box in front of it, so that it becomes cross-marked. Then press OK and also close the Device Setup dialog. Do you then get the sound experience you expect?
hope you had a wonderful evening at the party. I have been able to open Dorico and work with it on 3 sessions since friday. I tried to open it one more time, it was attempt nr 3, but that didnt work but after rebooting it worked again. I will attach the log file for that event. Jan Dorico Diagnostics.zip (2.4 MB)
With Speakers (top listing), I got absolutely no sound, nothing.
Switched back to Headphones, and got the same very muted, barely audible, sound.
Switched to Speakers (bottom listing), I got the same very muted sound.
Sound is fine for internet YouTube (etc.) and w/ USB attached CD/DVD player. There is something wrong w/ my computer’s set-up, I think. Probably/possibly not a Dorico problem.
I had thought that your suggestion would work, but, alas, it did not.
Definitely had an effect. Somewhat louder but not what I would expect from volume turned all the way up.
Computer’s master volume set at 68%.
Checked by playing a WAV file, and the volume w/ Dorico faders all the way up was much louder. If not working w/ Dorico, I would have to reduce all of the Dorico faders back to mid-levels. Otherwise would be too loud for comfort.
Minimized computer’s master volume, and no volume from playback from Dorico.
Max’d the computer’s master volume and slightly louder.
By max’ing the computer’s master level, and max’ing the separate volume control (“Output”, “C” on lower right of screen) I can get what I want/need.
Not sure what “M” and “S” on each of the fader’s is supposed to do, so I left them alone.
Shut down Dorico to see if re-starting would have any effect. Faders (automatically) back to mid-level. If I had re-saved the file, that might have saved the max’ed fader levels.
Work-able but probably not the way it is “supposed” to be. Will just have to remember to max the Dorico faders before inputting/editing/playing.
