Hi!
I can’t get this to work. I want dotted quarter-note on m7 beat 1 and 3.
How do I get this right?
Can’t guess why it’s not working from just a screenshot. Please post a cut-down project that shows the problem. It can be just one bar in one instrument.
What happens if you double click on the time signature and type return to close the popover again? Does it fix the note grouping? Maybe it’s the same issue as this one:
You’re on to something here. When I add a local 4/4 meter the dotter quarter is shown. But, then not 2 bars later after double barline.
Here’s a cut-down project displaying the issue.
Please insert 4/4 meter at bar 5.

There’s a hidden time signature after the double barline. If I make it visible via the property panel and confirm the time signature with the popover, the note groupings get fixed.
Ok, thanks! Does double barlines always produce a new hidden timesignature?
Yes, as far as I can tell, there’s always a hidden time signature after a double barline. At least, that’s the case in all the files I checked.
Yet, it shouldn’t give errors like this?
In Dorico, Barlines and Time-Signatures are basically the same.
It’s a little intransparent, to be fair, and the consequences are also not often very clear, such in this case.
Just coming back to this to say I fixed the issue with the note grouping options not working correctly by deleting the time signature, and adding a new one in it’s place. This was not a hidden time signature, but a 4/4 time signature at the beginning of my flow! I see there is a linked post for a bug report, but figured I’d share my solution if it happens to help anyone else.
