That’s strange, I did not receive any error message from the email system…
Its not “ulf” but just “u” as first part ?
Just sent it again, this time as a zip file…
If not received, you can mail me at koen at koenpletinckx dot be
Thanks,
Koen

@Ulf Just replied to your email… I hope you have received my file now.
I will send it by Fromsmash too, just to make sure it arrives…
Koen
Yes, this time I got it. Many thanks
Same thing happening here; just bought OPUS a couple weeks ago. Poor coding is the real issue here, as this is happening in every small session with 50% free ram and few instances of everyting else. I guess just make sure everything is loaded/leveled and don’t touch OPUS again.
Hi @Dracarys , I’m still in contact with EastWest on this (yes, very slow progress).
Would you be able to send me a project - maybe even a stripped down version - that I could share with EastWest? If so, please send to u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de
Thanks
Hi Dracarys,
I’m glad I’m not the only one with this problem. Fortunately, there is very good support and follow-up from Ulf of Steinberg. We can only hope for good and fast support from EastWest…
What I do as a temporary workaround (if I need to make changes to the Opus player) is deactivate the Dorico project and reactivate. Then the Opus player is responding again until you start playback of your score…
Kind regards,
Koen
It also happens to me with Opus inside of Vienna Ensemble.
I’m not an expert, but I attribute this to thread priorities: underlying audio functionality in high priority threads, UI in lower priority threads. This makes the UI threads susceptible to “parking/swapping” or however the OS deprioritizes the thread.
In Vienna Ensemble, I just need to switch instances and somehow the Opus UI returns to normal (but only for a while).
Hi all, quick update on this one. My contact at EastWest now came back to me and said they could reproduce the issue as well (at least on Windows). So progress is slow but it is getting forward at least , so let’s be positive about it and hope for a solution some time soon.
Hi Ulf,
It’s good news to hear that they can reproduce the issue. I’m also working in IT so I know that the best way to start debugging is from an issue that occurs often and is reproducible. Nothing more frustrating when an error occurs only now and then…
Even if the progress is slow, fingers crossed to have soon a solution provided by them.
Thanks for your follow up and keeping us informed.
Koen
Hi @koen1 ,
a little update on this one.
I’ve been in contact with EastWest and they could also reproduce that unresponsive Opus GUI. They investigated on it and came to the conclusion that the problem is on VSL’s side. So they will get in touch now with the Vienna guys and put me on CC. I will keep you updated.
@Ulf Little update : I just have installed Cinematic Rooms from LiquidSonics (it’s a trial version for 14 days as I’m still looking around). But the behavior is the same. The user interface becomes unresponsive once I start playback in Dorico, just like the Opus interface. I have control again if I deactive and reactivate my project.
Seems that the problem is not only related to Opus player…
Kind regards,
Koen
Hi @koen1 , that’s interesting to hear, that suggests its rather a problem on Dorico side. I haven’t heard anything back from EastWest, yet. Or do you know, is LiquidSonics maybe affiliated with EastWest.
In any case, I will get myself a trial for Cinematic Rooms as well and see if I can reproduce it easily
Hi Ulf,
I don’t think they are affiliated… But maybe their way of development is quit similar (making use of the same technical development tools?)…
Please note that I’m working on Windows pc, not Mac… The behavior can be different between these operating system.
Koen
Hi @koen1 ,
do you happen to have still the Cinematic Rooms Windows installer lying around somewhere.
I seem to be unable to download it from the LiquidSonics website. It’s extremely slow and then always breaks off after a few minutes.
If you still have it, I can provide a link to my OneDrive where you could upload it.
Thank you very much.
Hi Ulf,
Yes, I still have the installer. I can send it to you if you want… I can send it by FromSmash (it’s like WeTransfer) if you prefer this way.
I can also download the Mac version for you if needed. But as said, I’m working on Windows.

HI Koen, thanks a lot, actually, after many many retries I finally could download it myself. Had no time though to test, yet, but will do soon. Sorry for the bother…
Hi Koen,
I have now also the Cinematic Rooms Trial going here on my Win machine, but can’t reproduce the problem that you have with it. Anything particular or special that you are doing inside the project?
For me it happens after it’s been loaded for more than, say 6 hours. Both with activity and without. I’ll step away or overnight and come back to an unresponsive UI. Like I wrote above, switching instances inside of VEP sort-of brings it back, but I usually just restart VEP and reload the project.
Hi Ulf,
No, same thing as with the EastWest Opus player. So I open the plugin, leave it open and start playback. After a while the GUI of the plugin is froozen…
Again, I’m using a lot of Vienna Synchron Player instances for my instruments. That’s the common factor here, so I’m starting to look in the direction of VSL too.
I should do a test with Cinematic Rooms and a project without VSL sounds to see what the result is. Maybe I can perform this test tomorrow or Wednesday. I will keep you informed.
Greetings,
Koen
