Feature Requests

1st part:
While playback is active, rightclick on any other song and mark it as next to play. Also in a list of filtered songs by search box. It would be like we have in FlexLoop - when part is playing and you click on another part, you have it in different color and countdown slider indicates the time until it will start to play.

I ask this because we cannot change setlist on the fly and it is good of course.

2nd part:
Maybe it would be possible to change setlist if currently playing song is in target setlist - so after changing setlist the playback continues from that position. This would be brilliant.

Native MIDI Scale Quantizer & Smart Chord Harmonizer (Arranger Style)

Hi everyone,

I would like to propose a feature request regarding MIDI processing that I think could be incredibly useful for live keyboardists and performers using VST Live.

It would be amazing to have two native MIDI tools built directly into the track or stack settings, without the need to load heavy third-party plugins:

  1. Native MIDI Scale Quantizer / Scale Constraint: A tool (similar to Scaler 2 or Cubase’s MIDI modifiers) to lock incoming MIDI notes to a specific scale in real-time, ensuring we always play in key during a live performance.
  2. Smart Chord Harmonizer (Arranger/Workstation Style): A system where the left hand defines/triggers a chord, and when the right hand plays a single melody note, VST Live automatically harmonizes it in real-time (e.g., adding thirds, fifths, or chord voicing) based on the chord held by the left hand.

Having these features built natively into VST Live would immensely empower solo performers and keyboardists, keeping the CPU load low and the workflow seamless.

Thank you to the development team for your amazing work on VST Live!

Best regards.

Hi Steinberg Team,

I am moving my live shows from Cubase to VST Live 3, and the software is amazing. However, I have a feature request regarding song transitions in the Setlist.

Currently, songs behave as independent islands. If I want the Cue/Click track of Song 2 to start playing a few seconds before the audio/music of Song 1 completely finishes, I have to manually merge both songs into a single project file.

Doing this ā€œmerged song trickā€ takes away all the flexibility of rearranging the Setlist on the fly.

My Suggestion: It would be incredible to have an option in the ā€œEnd Actionā€ window to trigger the next song with a negative offset (Pre-Roll / Early Start). For example: ā€œStart Next Song 5 seconds before current Song Endā€. This way, the Cues and counting of the upcoming song can overlap seamlessly with the fading tail of the previous one without breaking the Setlist structure.

Thank you for this great software!

That is amajor task we could not implement yet. For this to happen, two Songs would need to play concurrently for the overlapping time which is not only difficult to implement, but also causes double load on the system.

It is on our map, but to be honest, it will probably not be avilable soon, sorry.
