I’m increasingly frustrated with the limitations of Cubasis on iPad compared to its desktop counterpart, Cubase. While I appreciate the mobile option, the fact that projects aren’t fully cross-compatible is a major drawback.
It’s disappointing that while Cubasis projects can be transferred to Cubase on a Mac or Windows, the reverse isn’t possible. This severely limits my workflow, forcing me to choose between the convenience of mobile and the full capabilities of desktop production.
In contrast, Apple’s Logic Pro offers near-seamless project transfer between iPad and Mac. This level of integration is incredibly beneficial for a streamlined creative process.
I understand that the differences between operating systems pose significant challenges for developers. However, instead of trying to force a square peg into a round hole, wouldn’t it be more efficient to create a dedicated “Cubase for iPad” app?
This new app could be designed specifically for the iPad’s unique environment, taking full advantage of its touch interface and processing power. It could also offer better integration with the rest of the Cubase ecosystem.
I’m curious to know if other Cubase users share this frustration and if there has been any discussion within Steinberg about developing a dedicated iPad version.
Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences below!
Hi @Seto
Thanks for your message.
Cubasis for iOS and Android and Cubase for Windows and macOS are entirely separate applications, each developed independently with unique features tailored to the specific requirements of their respective platforms.
Please take a look at our dedicated article, to find out more about the platform-dependant limitations to exchange projects between Cubasis and Cubase (using the Cubasis Project Importer):
Aside from this, we evaluate the options to import Cubase projects with Cubasis, which will hopefully be possible via a future update.
We would be very glad to gather some additional feedback and requests about the feature from other users too!
Best,
Lars
Thank you. I understand that Cubasis and Cubase are separate applications. And also, I know the Cubasis Importer. But it can’t be reveresed.
That’s the reason why I’m asking for a dedicated Cubase for iPad instead.
The workflow of Logic Pro sharing the same project (only with some limitation with workaround) between iPad and macOS is attractive. It would be great if a dedicated Cubase for iPad exists and share the same workflow and codebase.
Thank you again.
Aside from this, we evaluate the options to import Cubase projects with Cubasis, which will hopefully be possible via a future update.
This would be great while there’s no Cubase for iPad yet.
