I have spent several hours on this and I can’t get my divisi section numbers to match my staff labels. In the help screens, they look fine, but the section numbers on my divisi come out with full stops, whereas my staff labels don’t. What is worse is that Solo and gli altri also have meaningless full stops. (not shown in this slice)

I would probably rather not have them altogether, but I can’t seem to get
Vln. I
div. in 3
to appear as the group name. It renames it Gr. 2 (on the middle of 3 staves).
I’m resolved to remove the section numbers, but I still need to get rid of the full stops on Solo. and gli altri. Ideas?
I found the offending setting, and it’s a bug. In Engraving Options, if you set it to Always add period after abreviated instrument names, it adds a full stop to the divisi section numbers (in the Staff labels) as well as Solo and gli altri. This is particularly annoying, since in American English, one puts a full stop on all abreviations regardless of whether they end with the final letter of the word. So, now I have to go back and add them in to Hn., Tpt, and Vln. Furthermore, if you use the full stop on the condensing instrument numbers, they don’t appear on the in-system section numbers. So, having those on, brings more inconsistency.
Thanks, that fixed one of the problems. Is there any way to suppress the section numbers within the staff without also suppressing Solo, gli altri, and unis.? If I’m going to use div. in 3, I don’t need the section numbers.
Surely, I would have to do that for every divisi. It would certainly take less time to put the Solo, gli altri, and unis. in manually. There should be a preset for it somewhere.
Actually, that was about labels when condensing. They are apparently treated separately, since I’ve found no option for adding full stops to in-line section numbers, other than manually. And you can’t seem to put them on the divisi staff labels without also putting them on Solo., and gli altri.
