@commongrounder Do you by any chance have a program installed called Virtual Clone Drive? or any other virtual drive software? Uninstalling Virtual Clone Drive solved the problem here - Wavelab 12 now sees the optical drive and no longer crashes.

I haven’t directly installed any virtual drive software. I will check to see if any of the applications I have installed added something of that nature as part of the package. That’s a good clue for something to check. Thank you, stingray!
