There is already a thread for getting prologue etc to work with Cubase 13 (here) - and it appears that the solution was just to copy the ‘synthengine.vst3’ file from former versions of cubase to the cubase 13 VST3 folder.
However I have tried this with Cubase 14 and have had no luck. I’m particularly keen on having prologue functional.
I know that bouncing prologue tracks from former projects to audio… or reverting to former versions of Cubase have been suggested but I’m looking for the optimal solution to getting it working within Cubase 14.
Can anyone help?
(additionally also keen on getting Embracer and Monologue working in cubase 14 too but these were discontinued a much longer time ago)
if you install an updated Cubase version the “synthengine” is copied automatically from the previous Cubase version folder into the new folder of the updated version: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase xx\VST3\SynthEngine.vst3
Sorry, I’m on a PC / Windows 11 Home
I installed Cubase 14 new and ‘Synthengine.vst3’ was not copied automatically into the C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 14\VST3 folder
I tried copying the ‘synthengine’ file from my Cubase 11 directory to the Cubase 14 directory, but there was no effect - cubase vst manager didn’t pick anything up.
not sure if there’s another process required to get the synthengine file to be recognoised by Cubase 14?
Thanks
Ross
Did you do a rescan in the VST-Plugin-Manager VST-Instrument page?
The location mentioned above should be included automatically - anyways, maybe try to copy it here as well?
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
and do another rescan?
Which VST3 build is displayed in your previous Cubase version when it comes to Mystic & Co? Here it’s VST 3.52.
Yes i have tried to rescan multiple times (after cubase restart and computer restart - just in case). I also added it the directory to the VST2 plugin path settings (just in case) but this didn’t make a difference.
I added ‘synthengine’ to the common files VST3 folder as you suggested - but this didn’t work either. No sign of prologue after a rescan
The version of prologue in the synthengine file i copied over is 2.2.2.6. Not sure what you mean by ‘VST3 Build’
I meant the VST3 version that you can see in your previous Cubase version in the Plugin-Manager on the VST Instrument page
I am not sure if this has any effect but since I am running out of ideas: Is your USB-eLicenser plugged in or do have a Soft-eLicenser on this system with a valid license of a Cubase version prior to 12?
Will confirm the VST build later - but I think you might be onto something re. the license. I’ll make sure I have a properly working e-license for Cubase 11 - this might make the synthengine work in 14. Up until buying the e-license for cubase 14 I had a dongle license for Cubase 11 but every time I plug that in now it gives me incomprehendable errors and i’m not sure what’s going on.
thanks
