I create a Cubase template with GA in it. The audio outs are already configured., Then I lock the pads.
I’ve been using Groove Agent for about 15 years. It is my primary tool for drums with all of tmy projects.
If I could ask for improvments to for Groove Agent 6, I would ask for the following:
-
Create an internal database of drum midi similar to Toontrack Superior drummer. This way you can audition drum midi without being limited to banks of 16 Midi from .Halpreset
-
Remove the Mediabay file browser from GA. It is slow and freezes the software…
-
Implement 3rd Party Vst inserts’ per pad, aux and master track.
-
Resizable GUI
-
Volume controls for each sample within a a layer on a pad (Example: Kick drum with 3 layers played at once)
This!
Hopefully rhe update is coming soon. Yikes they are super duper mega slow.
yeah. well, the way things stand, if they release a GA6, I am not buying it. What has happened with GA5 seems like a total fiasco to me. My investment in this software and expansions has proven to be a total waste of money. The moment I patched and updated, it rendered the software unusable and my investment in the software waste of money.
Yikes. Well hopefully you can reach out to support and they can maybe help you somehow. I will say that support was vey good in at least trying to help.
A lot of these issues is just poor programming and a lousy update cycle. I don’t know if Steinberg has too few employees or if they just aren’t being pushed hard enough.
Like look at the product portal for Steinberg products and compare that to UVI. It’s like Steinberg is behind a decade.
Regardless, the one thing they DO have is the best sounding audio engine. Across the product stack. No other DAW/VST can render as many streams on a single channel as whatever technology underpins AWM2/Steinberg’s core audio engine.
THAT (the audio quality) is what made me come back. But I had NO IDEA that the programming and updates was gonna be this lack luster. I would have probably stayed on Native Instruments. They have zero innovation…but most of their stuff at least works. Most of it.
Thanks for reply. I did not know that. I will keep it in mind.
Yep, no prob!
If you Google “chat with Steinberg support” it will take you to a link that you can actually get a live agent to help you online. They can even take control of your computer to help solve issues.
Those dudes are quality and will try to help you from my personal experience. The Halion/Cubase programming team…that is a different animal altogether.
If I could ask for a specific feature in groove agent it would be having the possibility of both velocity and round robin within the same pad.
I don’t think this is possible right now or well I tried but I can’t find a way to do this.
The layout needs less buttons. Impact for Studio One has every parameter for each pad on the same page.
It also needs to be implemented into the lower zone. That’s a must.
This! The era of Mega Clicking needs to be over. What do you mean by “the lower zone”. Not on the side like in this picture, but at the bottom of the interface?
21:40 into the video is pretty much what I was hoping Cubase would do for almost a decade. Let’s hope.
Does anyone have any information if or when Steinberg will release a GA6?
Hopefully soon. It needs a simpler interface and full integration into the lower zone.
Yeppers, and basic stuff like if the square is white, you can’t see if it’s being triggered because the trigger color is white.
Too many tabs. Too much clicking. Simplification of the audio outs section.
Groove is better than Battery, because it has Halion’ engine-which is superior to Native Instruments Kontakt engine.
It also has better effects. But it needs a new coat of paint fast!
I would anticipate longer than we think. Halion is a higher priority product over Groove. To MY ears-Halion 7 is a “newer” engine. Much tighter triggering multiple layers at one time and I am super happy this got fixed.
Grove is based on the older Halion 6 engine (IN MY OPINION) so it’s probably going to require some work or they would have released them at the same time.
Thanks. You would think if they could port the new H7 engine to new GA6 it wouldn’t take that long. But I agree, the GUI needs a major upgrade. Being able to enlarge it and zoom is much needed. Bu the same could be said for H7 as well.
Would this not require a separate plugin? GrooveAgent is designed to work outside of Cubase, in other DAWS and as a standalone.
Why is a Wishlist topic marked as solved?
A more “immediate” grooves search funtionality
We’ve been hacked! The ability to put the Grove interface in your DAW is pretty clever. Steinberg owns the entire product stack so they could easily do this too.
Drums are one of those things that you can get lost trying to get the best sounds. Not having to pull up that huge Groove UI (especially for those on laptops) could be very clutch to some I suppose.
Fingers crossed.
I don’t think it would require anything beyond just building a smaller interface directly into Cubase. Presonus did a really good job with this and their update.
