Headphone Disconnect

Help!

Mac Sequoia 15.5; Dorico 6.1.10.6078. Dorico has suddenly stopped playback through my headphones. Playback continues to work properly with YouTube and other applications.

I have tried all sorts of fixes in the device set-up window and elsewhere, as well as just unplugging and replugging the headphones. Nothing solves the problem.

Some of the fixes are suggested by Gemini AI, which suggested parenthtically that this is a recurring problem for Dorico on the Mac. (I realize, however, that Gemini seems to hallucinate a lot, and none of its suggestions solved the problem.)

I know that Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and other great masters could hear the music in their heads with sufficient clarity to do their work, but my modest talent is far short of that level. This problem is making it very difficult for me to work. Any suggestions?

Try re-applying the playback template under the Play menu.

Thanks for your reply.

I am not sure I understood your suggestion. (There are two separate Play menus in Dorico (!!). But what I tried so far did not work.

If you search the Forum for “headphones Dorico @Ulf” you will find many threads and many possible solutions. Choose the one that most corresponds to your situation.

Or have a look at this thread, particularly at that posting where it goes about the CoreAudio settings. I think that is also the problem in your case, @weigel .

I think there is one Play menu and one Play tab (Play mode); as I expect you know, they are not the same.
