HELP HELP PLEASE! TIME SENSITIVE! How to go back from files delete screen!

Thanks for reading - having worked on a project for a good few hours and done some intense but good work, I did my usual and saved the project and then went to quit BUT I got the prompt to delete files since last save. Smelling trouble I went to the project folder to find that no autosaves have been made and my command to save hasn’t worked either. So I’m stuck at the stage of having the 'delete files since last save prompt window 'open and nowhere to go except to close the project and lose all the work! Is there ANY way to go back from this window - it’s tantalising when the project is still open on the screen, unsaved, and nothing to be done! Anyone know any tricks, please!?

Hi,
you must have accidently gone for the option to revert to the last saved version (File/Revert) instead of saving the project. When your aforementioned prompt pops up it means Cubase has already returned to the last saved version and discarded all changes that have been made since the last save. Now, you only have the option to either keep the files that were exclusively used in the now deleted version or to get rid of them. That doesn´t affect the already deleted version which is gone by now. I´m afraid there is no undo option at this point. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Maybe somebody else knows a magic trick that I´m not aware of?
I keep my fingers crossed!

Thanks so much for your kind reply. I can see the project window on the screen and see that the project is still in its final unreverted state - I can still undo and redo in edit, weirdly, but no other interactions with the menus are possible! I think it’s more likely that there’s a temporary glitch that means that auto saves aren’t happening and neither did my command to save follow through. Sadly, I think I agree with your verdict though. Thanks for the crossed fingers!

You can still trigger undo/do in the project? That sounds weird. And your project still appears to be in the unreverted state although the prompt usually follows after discarding all recent changes up to the latest version that was saved. Hmm. Very strange, indeed.

Yes! But if you just quit cubase or close a project without saving, I think you get the same prompt if you’ve recorded audio files since your last save? I - think?! So for cubase I was quitting without saving. Still got the screen up - might leave it on and go to bed!

Closing Cubase without saving the last changes (new files and/or any changes within the project) triggers a prompt that asks whether or not you want to quit without saving these recent changes. Auto save refers to backup copys of your project file only. These are *bak files which do not backup files in the pool. I think the most problematic issue in your case is that auto save was unfortunately disabled and that there are no *bak files to return to.
Sorry that I can´t give you more than my 2 cents on this one.
Good luck!
