In some other progs I use, there is a folder you can drop stuff in so its customisable for users. What I find is it would be an incredible help, instead of digging through the manual, is, once you have read the manual, you screengrab helpful sections ie Im relearning automation shortcuts. It would be nice if the screen grab could be dropped in that folder and appear there for super quick focused reference to local resources or at the very least, links that can be saved from the manual into there with a custom name…as you become super familiar with them, just remove from the reference folder. Just a thought
I do that with a word processor. Keep the file on my desktop.
If you’re still on Win 10, download relevant web pages from the online help, and create a new taskbar toolbar pointing to the folder.
I’ve done this but for all those pesky PDFs.
Thanks @BobUpstairs @Googly_Smythe
Sure, they are good little tips
Just simpler if its context based per prog which is why the help menu is great
There is actually a question mark in every dialog etc and if you click eg a field and hit f1 it opens the manual at that exact place…very nice for learning
I program oem control surface scripts for ableton and a lot of other stuff…si yeah would be nice to have prog dependent
A gripe about steinberg is that their windows dont expose the content widgets so you cant automate via window api handles, even ahk so its very limited else i woukdnt have to ask
Multi key sequence shortcuts woukd be amazing…
Yes… this is really handy. However, I don’t have internet access on most of the time - particularly while I’m working in Cubase. Every little program wants to phone home while I’m trying to work.
Sorry…that should have read “context based per dialog/window”
Im the same when using DAW, the other progs are architectural/3d so net is not a problem ie no realtime functions going on
Let me illustrate how it would work as a system;
(qualifier to start shortcut input), m+v+c =
(M)ixing window/function
(V)isibiity
(C)onfig
Drown down opens up
Type the number 2 and config 2 loads
I use this all the time as esp in large projects, it isolates the particular group of tracks Im working on (it doesnt use those shortcuts…its all by generic remote atm)
The bonus it it would make mapping large amounts of controller shortcuts much easier
If ahk could see the window items, would be even simple to open the dialog and just type ‘2’
