Holding Alt-Shift to select output for multiple channels doesn't work as before

If I select multiple channels in the main project window, then click output dropdown, then press Alt-Shift and select the output - the output is selected just for one channel, not the selection. It frustrates me a lot - I was always using Alt-Shift after selecting the output dropdown, then using search to minimize the list, then selecting the needed channel. Now it doesn’t work.

Now to make it work you have to press Alt-Shift BEFORE selecting the output dropdown. This way you can’t use the search in the dropdown and it’s a big problem if you have multiple outs, groups, side-chains. Even the mouse wheel doesn’t scroll the list if Alt-Shift is already pressed…

Is it just my problem? Didn’t find any posts with this issue..

Hi,

This is a known and already discussed behaviour. Please find the duplicate post(s) on the forum and continue in the given thread.

Where is that duplicate post?

I found it here Q-link key command (option + shift) not working anymore

But it doesn’t help. I’m not sure that Steinberg is aware that it’s a problem.

Hi,

Yes, Steinberg is aware of the behaviour change.

Yes, but do Steinberg understand that this behavior change is a problem? Or they just suggest to press alt-shift BEFORE opening dropdown?

Seems Steinberg knows but does not care about undoing years of muscle memory.

@Martin.Jirsak how can we address this to the developers for a next update? this is the most annoying and useless change Cubase made. I can’t search outputs while holding the key combination, I can’t even scroll through the list for projects that have many outputs and groups, and the other alternative is keeping Q-LINK engaged while changing routing for more tracks at once, but then if I accidentally forget it engaged, it can become a disaster for my project. Let’s try changing it to the way it was. I am sure nobody wants this change to Cubase.

And that’s not about muscle memory. That’s about loss of functionality - we can’t use search and as we can’t scroll the list as well - several outputs are out of reach!

Hi,

Here is the duplicate thread.

I have raised the question of whether this specification change is wanted and linked both forum threads.
