How Do I Get A Refund Of HALion 7?

I have HALion 6 and just purchased the HALion 7 upgrade. Steinberg Download Assistant is rejecting the update. It says that I am not eligible for HALion 7.

I would actually prefer a refund of my purchase. How do I get a refund?

Thanks in advance

Hi,
you’ll find instructions and a link further down below here

If you change your mind and rather like to keep Halion 7 let us know. Usually, these kind of problems get sorted out here in this forum.

Thanks for the fast response. I really appreciate it, but I thing I would prefer a refund.

The cause could be that you purchased the Absolute bundle, which includes Halion. This bundled Halion can only be updated by updating the bundle.

Fingers crossed that you get your refund.

You’re probably right about the Absolute bundle as the reason.

I don’t see why I wouldn’t get a refund.

There’s also this disclaimer on the HALion page:

The way I see it, I purchase something, was charge for it, but Steinberg was uable to deliver what I purchased.

I am going to update to Absolute 7 but first I would like this resolved.

I don’t particularly agree with the notion that a bundle of instruments should be its own separate product instead of just being separate licenses for each product of said bundle. That discourages people from buying Absolute IMO.

How were they unable to deliver what you purchased? You bought something you had no license for to begin with. It’s not Steinberg’s fault you didn’t read and bought the wrong product. I can walk into a hardware store looking for a hose to fix my dishwasher. If I go buy a garden hose instead, that’s not the store’s fault, its my own. Just like this was your fault, not Steinberg’s.

The advantage is you can maintain a large suite of instruments in one step, for a price much lower than maintaining all of the apps individually.
I.E. Where can upgrade everything in Absolute for one fee of say $99 (not sure what it usually costs to upgrade Absolute, just an arbitrary number as example); in contrast, taking an individual license for HALion alone from 6 to 7 = $99.00, then needing to do the same Groove Agent another $99, and so on. Another perk is that sometimes they add entirely new instruments and apps to the bundle when upgrading.

The only minor disadvantage with the Absolute bundle is that you sometimes to have to wait a while to get ‘upgrades’ for things included in the bundle. I.E. An upgrade just for HALion might come out months sooner than one for the full Absolute package. Absolute upgrades tend to be released several months after that first product in the bundle gets an upgrade path (it comes after individual upgrades for all of the products in the bundle are ready), so there can be some ‘waits’ involved to get the latest of everything. The trade off for the wait, is you get to maintain it all for a mere fraction of the cost it would take to maintain all the products individually.

I agree, it’d be nice if the bundle just gave you individual keys for each product, or if they somehow made it possible to go ahead and by an upgrade for the next Absolute bundle in advance (say, the day any individual product in the bundle is ready for upgrades, let you go ahead and buy an Absolute upgrade that’ll cover the rest as they come for the next product cycle).

I suppose the reasons this isn’t already done is because of the way the Activation Manager works, and how all of the apps and libraries involved key into that system.

Not sure how they could go about doing that and keeping it under a ‘bundle’ umbrella. Maybe it’ll improve someday so Absolute owners can just go ahead and buy into the next version sooner (even if some parts of the bundle have no upgrade ‘yet’)?

But I would be able to reture it back to the hardware store for full refund in 30 days. Guitar Center has a 45 day no question asked return policy.

Its been resolve.

A big thank you to Steinberg Online Shop Suport.

Just want to note that without exception, everyone who has posted about buying the wrong product, meaning one they could not actually activate, got a refund.

I bought a wrong upgrade to Dorico - it was resolved by the next day, via the website. I made a topic about in The Lounge.

I’ll close this redundant topic and leave it displaying for future readers
