How do I get the dynamics to work?

I’m writing a SATB with organ (from template). and I can’t change the dynamic level to change. It’s forte all the way no matter what dynamic marking I put in. Also, how can I change from that awful organ sound to, say, a string orchestra sound?

Can you say which Playback Template is in use? Play → Playback Template. The one that’s highlighted is the current one in use. Just try Apply & Close and see if that helps.

As for changing the organ to string orchestra. You should probably figure out what is currently wrong before making other changes. But changing the organ isn’t too difficult.

My template is HALion Sonic . I tried that and nothing changed. I lowered the volume level on the organ channel; but, that was only so that I could hear the choir. The dynamics for the choral voices work, but the organ is only one dynamic level no matter how many dynamic marks I put in.

I guess it’s a bug because the Organ from halion uses the Default expression map, but the organ responds to CC11, not velocity – strange. In play mode, change the expression map for the organ from Default to CC11 Dynamics and it should work fine.

Actually not a bad sounding organ

That seems to solve the dynamic issue (for now at ;east). I suppose it’s not a bad organ sound if all you want is full organ all the time.

I played a bit with Halion this morning and there are some nice full strings that respond to CC11 that could be a drop-in replacement for the organ.

'Changing organ registration

I believe it concerns the NotePerformer organ (with different registrations available).

and this as well:

How do I set that up? Pease forgive my ignorance. I’m still a beginner with this programme.
I looked at the Performer4 thing. too much money.

If anyone is interested in NotePerformer, there is a free trial.

We have users here with it.

And search for Organ here at the forum.

I went to Play mode and clicked the “e” (Edit instrument). Find the organ slot and highlight it. Then, browse the categories for what you want. I picked Warm Strings xfade or Full strings … or something similar. Double click that and it will replace the organ. That’s pretty much it.

I went into Play mode and I can’t find this little “e”. Where is it? Never mind. I found it.

Found it!
