I know this may seem like a stupid question for someone who has had Dorico for more that 2 years, but I have never come across this problem before.
Just today, every time I click on my Dorico Elements 4 software, it comes up saying “Launching Steinberg Activation Manager” and tells me information about how then I will be able to access my program, but whenever I have clicked on my installed Steinberg Activation Manager, it doesn’t seem to load. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still ended up with no good result.
Are you on macOS or Windows?
Is the Steinberg Activation Manager visible in Activity Monitor or Task Manager?
Does the issue persists after a system restart?
Sam, try restarting your computer, then run Steinberg Download Assistant. It will automatically install updates for required tools like Steinberg Activation Manager. One SDA has run up fully and finished installing updates, you can quit SDA, and then run Steinberg Activation Manager, which you’ll find in your Applications folder, or you can find it by searching for it in Spotlight (on my Mac, I can run it by searching for “sam” in Spotlight).
Hi Sam, I take it you’re on Windows (as you talk about uninstalling and reinstalling). We have had one or two reports that suggest the Windows installer can sometimes go wrong for the most recent version of SAM. If Daniel’s suggestions don’t work, can you zip up the following two directories and send them to me at r dot lanyon at steinberg dot de:
%appdata%\Steinberg\Activation Manager
%programfiles%\Steinberg\Activation Manager
That second one may be quite large but feel free to send me a Google Drive or OneDrive link. It would be useful to work out whether the installer really has done the wrong thing here.
Ah, I see now from your other thread (I can't open Dorico because of this) that SAM is opening, as it is showing you the “No License Found” page. So probably you need to follow Daniel’s advice in that other thread as that’s the most likely cause for your problem.
@dspreadbury I followed your advice and now it is working fine! Panic over! I realised that my mum was the one that bought my Dorico and the SAM was in my account and now it is fine.
