Am trying to figure out how I would upgrade from Dorico 3.5 to 5.0? What are the main differences. Thanks
Welcome to the forum!
Clicking on the “Buy Dorico” button at Dorico: Music Notation Software | Steinberg and choosing the appropriate options, it looks like upgrading from 3.5 to 5.1 is $159.
Here are the version history documents for everything introduced in the version 4 and version 5 series:
Hi @mjsjazz13, there are a myriad of new functionalities between 3.5 and (now) 5.1.70. You can see the many videos on the Dorico YT channel, to have an idea (watching the videos) on the new functionalities of Dorico 4 and 5.
Before you buy Dorico 5, you can download and test it for free for 60 days! So you will see what it can do. I suggest also the Resources page.
And of course the main Dorico page with many useful information.
(One big advantage of upgrading, among the many new amazing functionalities, is that you don’t need a dongle anymore. (dont remember when this change happened))
There’s a huge amount!
Here are some reviews of each of the major releases, which have brought significant improvements, new features and all kinds of things…
The major upgrade at Steinberg for ancient Dorico users is $159 ? !
In other words, when I shall upgrade from my 5.1.x to Dorico 6, I shall have to pay 160€ ?
Diantre ! Passembleu ! Mordiou !
Upgrading to the next version is usually €99; but if you’re “jumping” more than one version, then you pay a bit more.
Considering that a new version comes out roughly every two years; and there are usually 3 “major” free updates within that cycle: and it’s excellent value.
@ObiwanKenobi See here:
Ah… and when was Dorico 5 released ? It’s to calculate approximately when Dorico 6 will be released, and to prepare my piggybank… !!
Well, I don’t know if you can calculate it exactly; but 5.0 came out in May 2023, and Daniel did say in the last blog that the next version will be coming in 2025.
OK. I think, so, for the 1st April 2025 ?
