I spend so much time on admin and trying to get things to work. The latest is trying to get Dorico SE to work. I have given up with the Nuendo score version and want to try something more independent and it is proving difficult/impossible to get this working.
I go to ST Download assistant, install Dorico SE, which I understand to be free for 2 - eight lines, (though it seems to be the same download for all the Dorico versions) and then close the download assistant. As instructed by everything I read online I then launch the program and am immediately confronted by the ST activation manager which tells me I donât have a license. No choices are given except to try again which doesnât work or give up. Has anyone any idea how to make this work? Is there a magic route I need to take that no-one tells you about? Iâve done the usual updating the download manager, reset the password and all the usual overheads as well as uninstall and reinstalled the program. Frustrating.
You probably need to go via the Dorico SE page on the website, from where you are directed to your mySteinberg login and I guess that will generate the Download Access Code for you.
Even if Dorico SE is free, it needs a license entry in the Activation Manager. Try it from here
The website doesnât work. I am unable to download the SE version, it just takes you around in circles. WHAT is the point of the download manager I have to ask myself. Itâs a mess. I have been on this for hours.
The Steinberg.net website does not work. I am unable to download the SE version. Itâs a mess, just send me around in circles when I select the download button. I just donât know what the point of the download assistant and activation manager are if they donât do this for you. Itâs really frustrating.
Oh sorry I wrote two responses, I thought I had had two replies!
Ah ha, I have just seen that there is a button the the video screen to download Dorico (why have that other button) but all it does is take you to the install the Download assistant of which I already have the latest version and have already tried to use alongside the activation manager which as described above doesnât work despite being signed in. So the solution I looking for is how to make the activation manager work. I just finally got a message from ST
After launching the Steinberg Download Assistant, open the âMy product downloadsâ heading on the left side, where you will find your Dorico SE. Download and install the recommended components, then run Dorico SE. Sign in with your Steinberg ID if prompted, and youâre all set.
I have installed via the Download assistant, tried to run the program and thatâs when it tells me I donât have a licence. Never asks me for an ID as I am already signed in I guess.
Yes, the one that refers to Dorico 3 and using the e licensor. I am following these instructions to the letter and once again can only say that all that happens is the activation program just tells me I donât have a licence and shuts me down. It seems the only way I can use Dorico is to buy it which is not really what I want to do.
I am signed in!! It also never asks me to sign in surely proving this to be the case. The activation manager just tells me I have no license and thatâs the end of that.
So I now tried it myself and it was really simple.
I clicked on the âGet Dorico SEâ button, logged in to my Steinberg Profile and a page was shown telling me to download and install the software via the Download Assistant.
Of course I did not do that, because I already have everything installed, but when I open the Activation Manager I now see a Dorico SE license that can be activated
Thanks Juergen for your support. Think I am going to leave this for a while and go and do something else, restart the computer and all that. Iâll let you know how it goes!!
