How to convert a file from 24bit to 16bit?!

I’m sorry to have to ask this but I’m getting old.
Trying to use W12 for the first time and just want to convert a 24bit wav file to 16bit so that I can burn it on to a CD. I’ve been searching through the app for two hours now and can not find how/where to do this. I am completely baffled and confused.
Can anybody help this old idiot please?

regards S-EH

Use Audacity. It’s free and easy to use in this case. Wavelab can do so many more things, but lacks easy usability, because “it is meant for professionals…”.
The gui of Wavelab fails on simple tasks, imho.

Use the “Save As” function, and choose this preset:

Looks like you might be seeking a 16-bit 44.1 file result to be compatible with burning to a CD. If so, in the master section you’d need to resample to 44.1 and ideally dither to 16 bits and then render the 16-bit 44.1 file using the ‘Start Rendering’ button, with 16-bit 44.1 settings as the audio file format. AFAIK WL12 doesn’t have a 16-bit 44.1 preset so you have to make one. (Someone please correct me if I’m missing something or have misunderstood).

P.S. sometimes ‘apparently’ simple things are not necessarily easy.

It might be helpful if Wavelab was supplied with a basic ‘16-bit internal TPDF NS-Type 1_SRC to 44.1’ Master Section preset, and maybe also a more advanced ‘16-bit Lin Triangular Hi-Pass NS1_SRC to 44.1’ Master Section preset. It might also help if the factory-supplied audio file format presets included ‘Wav 16 bit 44.1’.

I have now managed to do it using W12.
