I can’t edit the instrument name

I am using the most recent version of Dorico for iPad 5.1.31.2095
Today I noticed that I can’t change the instrument names - only the player’s names.
Why is this?

Unfortunately, you will be suffering from this problem, which affects Dorico for iPad as well as Dorico Elements:

Hi, I usually prefer the German names Sopran or Alt over the standard values: Soprano and Alto. Unfortunately my attempts to rename these instruments are getting ignored in the current version (Dorico Elements 5.1.30.2109. Has not been a problem in Dorico Elements 4 or 5.0) I can remove the “o” in the detail window, but even though I click Ok, the new name “Sopran” is not saved. The next time I open the window, the name is unchanged, still “Soprano”. [dorico_issue2] Any ideas? Thanks in ad…

Yes Daniel, that is the same thing…
For the time being I‘ll change the instrument name with my desktop (Pro) version. It is not a big deal (except for the solely iPad users).

I’m new here. I have used Sibelius for many years. I’ve switched to Dorica on the iPad today. I play the harp. When I import a music xml file the system uses Piano as instrument name. I want to change it in harp or just delete the instrument name Piano. Please help me make this possible by telling me what to do.

Hi Edith – Welcome to the forum. In Dorico this is done in Setup mode. See changing instruments in the iPad documentation for complete instructions.

You can also edit instrument names directly – if for example you want to keep the piano sound but have the score say “Harp”. This is also done in Setup.
