Interesting development from Nektar... CC121 part II.?

Have you tried disabling and re-enabling the CS12 script via MIDI remote in the relevant projects?

I have a beta release of the next version of Cubase and I can confirm it fixes this issue. I was also able to create the situation where the project gets saved in a state where the plugin buttons aren’t working. This is also fixed in the beta build of Cubase.

With such projects, if you open a project with the CS12 powered down and then power up after Cubase has started I found the plugin buttons would work.

So until the next version of Cubase is released, a workaround could be to power up CS12 only after Cubase is up and running if you are experiencing this issue with you project.

@ SteKrae

If I do that, CS12 no longer shows me any plugins, even though there are some in the channel.

@ Tim_Chandler
thanks for the tip about the update.
If I start CS12 after Cubase has started, unfortunately nothing changes in the affected projects. The plugin control then doesn’t respond either :frowning:

I have assigned the 2 buttons next to the loop button differently. Specifically, they use the automation function to show and hide the selected track. This works really well using the assignment assistant in Cubase.
Now I would like to assign something else to the same buttons while holding down the shift key. Unfortunately, I can’t select this in the assignment assistant because I can’t select 2 buttons at the same time in the assistant. Is there another way to do this?

You can’t do that presently I’m afraid. Sub pages are not recognised by the mapping assistant currently. If you try to replace an assignment on a sub page, it replaces the global assignment too.

It is for this reason I have the Shift mode override operations instead of using sub pages, as I can see people would potentially replaces their main transport controls by mistake.

My suggestion is to use the markers page which is set up to sit on top of existing assignments. The M1:M10 options are activated when the MARKERS button is active. To reassign M1:M10 you need to select the markers page in the mapping assistant.

I will produce a video of this as it’s very useful. Currently the markers page is designed for key commands only. I have an update next week which expands the use of the markers page for general assignment and improves the process of making assignment on the 2 user pages in channel mode too.

That’s great, @Tim_Chandler . Will share a link here when it’s available?

Also looking forward to the new version. BTW: where can I find changelogs for firmware and ControlCore versions?

great. I’m looking forward to the video, because I didn’t really understand the text. But thanks
yes, I don’t care if I replace the main transport controls because I don’t use them

Well, I have my Nektar by my side, and I have to say it’s impressive how well it works. My question is, if I “remap” a plugin, can I remove the controls I don’t want?

and I have noticed, for example, that when I have a compressor inserted, it does not appear red.

yes you can remove the plugin’s parameters.
select the plugin. Press Shift and data/menu. then you are in learning mode. then turn the data/menu button and select Clear one. then simply turn the potentiometer you want to delete

Has anyone already assigned user 1 or user 2 in a way that makes sense for themselves? I’m wondering what I could assign to it in Cubase…especially with the potentiometers. What could make sense? Does anyone have any ideas

Well, I’m still a little clumsy but I’ve already discovered something.

but what I am not able to do is change the color of when I have a compressor inserted, making the button red (to respect the colors that Nektar has designated)

So you first press “9-16” to activate INSERT plug-in mode (if not yet already in that mode) to have slots 1-8 visible, and then your compressor plug-in slot is illuminated in which color?

Is it a Steinberg stock compressor? If not, which one?

With the compressor on the channel strip is red.

With the inserts the color is like white and sometimes blue

Updated: in Logic is OK. but in Cubase the colors are different (maybe Nectar updated the code or so?

I agree. Thanks for the photos - this helps.

I cannot explain this.
Maybe @Tim_Chandler can comment - especially when colors are different with Ligic versus Cubase. Or does Cubase categorize the plug-in type, and CS12 just reads that?

I think it’s your second option… It’s not a problem for me, but maybe @Tim Chandler should know in case the team wants to address it, since CS12 is, let’s say, almost color-based…

I have to highlight the great work that the Nektar Team did in mapping practically all the plugins, yes it is true, that due to the ease of changing those maps, the ones that I use the most, I will relocate them in a logo distribution for me.

Is there a possibility to change the mapping from Nektarine? and then when you open them in Cubase they remain as the user wants?

When I open Nectarine, and I want to map a plugin, the Cs12 Layout is not shown (or I don’t know where to change it)

here you can change the assignment. if none is displayed, it is probably the plugin. there are some plugins where no parameters are displayed on the left under parameters, if that is what you mean. that was the case for me with a few plugins

Not entirely clear on the issue but it looks like you have a 3rd party compressor plugin where no map is found, and you want to set the color red correct?

Unmapped or uncategorised plugins are colored blue-white. To color a plugin, hold the slot button and turn data/menu knob. The color is stored as part of the plugin map so you’ll need to save it for a permanent color change:
Shift+press data/menu (engages learn mode)
Turn data/menu (opens learn menu)
The save button is presented with the learn menu.

You can also use the learn menu to remove parameters, or clear a whole page.

Hope that helps!

Hello and thank you! I can get there, but the “silhouette” of Cs12 does not appear. One appears with 8 encoders and 4 buttons.

I think, @Tim_Chandler did not refer to Nektarine or Cubase MIDI Remote, but to the CS12 Hardware directly
