Hi, I am using Cubase 13 (13.0.41) on Win 11 with an Arturia Keylab Mk2 midi controller. Every time I switched to midi editor, the application just froze and so I have to do end task using task manager. I tried disabling 3rd party plug-ins and refreshed user preference but still the problem persists. No dumpfile is generated by the application either. However, if I opened my project in older Cubase 12, I got no freezing/crashing problem. May I ask for assistance please? Thank you.
Hi and welcome to the forum,
What exactly do you mean by this? What “MIDI Editor” exactly do you mean (Key Editor, Drum Editor, List Editor, In-Place Editor, Score Editor)? Do you open the editor in the new window, or in the Lower Zone? Do you call the editor by a Key Command or by double-click to the MIDI Part?
Generate a DMP file and share it via Dropbox or a similar service, please.
Use the Microsoft ProcDump utility to generate a DMP file, please.
-
Please download ProcDump64 from Microsoft (~650kB) and extract the archive to a local folder on your hard disk.
-
Run Command Prompt (cmd) as administrator (right click and select “run as administrator”)
-
Navigate (in the Command Prompt) to the folder with the extracted procdump file.
For example:
cd C:\ Users \ \ Downloads \ Procdump
Note: the dmp file will be written into that folder. -
Launch Cubase/Nuendo. You can work as usual. At any time, change to the command prompt and start procdump, to monitor Cubase/Nuendo for unexpected behaviour (see next step).
-
Launch procdump64 via Command Prompt:
Cubase 13:
procdump64 -e -h -t Cubase13
Nuendo 13:
procdump64 -e -h -t Nuendo13
The -h option will write a dmp file in case of an application hang. This might kick in too early sometimes, in case some action takes a little longer. Feel free to skip the “-h” option, if you are only up for fetching crashes.
The option -e will catch exceptions and the option -t terminations of the application.
- Prodump is now monitoring the Cubase/Nuendo process and will write a crash log, in case Cubase/Nuendo crashes or hangs. Perform the action that causes Cubase/Nuendo to crash and send us the generated crash dmp.
ZIP and share the DMP file via Dropbox or a similar service, please.
Hi! Not sure with the name, but the app freezes every time I double-click on the midi track of my project.
I’ll try download the procdump64 .
Here’s the link of the dmp file… Cubase13.exe_240807_210256.zip - Google Drive
Hi,
Reported to Steinberg. Thank you.
Hi,
Can I ask for the project, where did you get the crash, please? You can share it with the Private Message. You can share just the CPR file (no Audio files).
Hi, I have the exact same experience; only in C13 not in C12.
Here’s is the link to the dmp file:
Hi,
I’m sorry, but it asks me to log in to Dropbox. Could you share the link without the necessity of login?
Hope this works
If not is there another way I can share the dmp file?
Additional information:
I upgraded to Cubase14; same problem.
Only in C12 everything works normal.
I followed the steps in this post to create a dmp file (with procdump etc)
Hi,
Reported to Steinberg.
Been awhile, the problem is still present in my Cubase 13. Have gotten used to this - C12 for my music production using virtual instruments and C13 for my multi track audio recording.
Guess, I won’t be updating C14 anytime.
Hi,
Could you attach your project and the preferences folder, please?
Hi Martin,
Do you mean my cpr-file and preferences folder, or the ones fromApollo?
Hi,
Is it possible that the Tempo Track or any Quantize Preset is “broken” by any chance?
Could you attach your project and the preferences folder, please?
Hello Martin,
I don’t use Tempo Track or Quantize Presets.
Attached are the cpr file of the project and the preferences folder.
Note:
- when I create in C13 or C14 an empty project and create an instrument track, record a midi part: same problem (freeze). C12 still works fine.
- when I restart C13 or C14 in factory settings: same problem
