Issues with Internet Connectivity in Cubase Pro 11 and Issues with Auto-Tune License

Hi everyone,

I’m facing two major issues with Cubase Pro 11 that I hope someone here can help with.

  1. Antares Auto-Tune License Not Recognized:
  • I’ve installed Auto-Tune on both my iLok and my PC. iLok License Manager shows that the license is active, and I’ve confirmed the activation is correct.
  • However, when I open Cubase Pro 11, the Auto-Tune plugin reports that the license is expired and not working, even though the license appears to be active in iLok and Antares Central
  • I’ve tried deactivating and reactivating the ilok, but this still doesn’t fix the issue
  • I’ve tried rescanning plugins in Cubase’s VST Plugin Manager, refreshing the list, and restarting the application, but Auto-Tune still won’t load properly.
  1. Cubase Pro 11 Not Connecting to the Internet:
  • I noticed that Cubase is not connecting to the internet. I am thinking maybe this has something to do with it??
  • My internet connection works fine for other applications, but Cubase is not able to check for the license or connect properly to the server.
  • I’ve checked my firewall settings and added Cubase to the exception list along with the elicenser but the issue persists.
  • I’ve also updated the elicenser Control Center and performed the online
    synchronization and maintenance.

Has anyone encountered these issues before, and if so, what steps did you take to resolve them? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

This seems more like an iLok issue. It’s not Cubase checking for your AutoTune licence, that’s Pace’s job. And and there should be no need for an internet connection as the licence is local, not in the cloud.
Have you tried turning off your computer, unplugging the dongle and plugging it back in? Daft, I know, but this is a recognised solution for some iLok issues.

thanks for getting back to me. I’ve tried turning the PC on and off and plugging the dongle in and out, but I had no luck. For more context, here’s what my ilok and Antares Central look like regarding the license:
ilock ss
Additionally, what I find strange is that when I try to adjust the VST plug-in in Cubase, the message i get reads “Antares License Expired” and then “Go to Anatares Central” and “Check for license”. When I click “Go to Antares Central”, it takes me to my Antares Central account with the active license. But when I try clicking the “Check for license” option in Cubase, Nothing happens at all.

And here’s what the Antares Central looks like:

Do you think that since my Antares Unlimited is subscription-based and needs to be verified monthly It’s likely that Cubase needs to access the internet for Auto-Tune to verify its active status (due to the subscription model)?.

No, Cubase does not connect to the internet to check licenses for products from other vendors.

You now posted in three different threads, including in the german forum, don’t do this.

Please keep this in one thread, because answers will be spread across different threads and users don’t what has been answered.

@Halfino please use this topic. Your other posts on the same subject have been removed

As I and @JuergenP have said, Cubase DOES NOT check plugin licences, the plugins do it for themselves. And yes, plugins on subs do need to “phone home” now and again. Make sure you are online and try again.
It might be an idea to release one of the activations, you don’t need both.

Thanks for the response!

  1. I already tried reducing the activations from 2 to just 1, but unfortunately, that didn’t change anything

  2. @googly_Smythe, When you mention “plugins on subs do need to phone home now and again” which two parties are you referring to? Whose phoning who - Do you mean communications between the Cubase and Antares Central in this instance?

  3. The issue still stands though that Steinberg Hub isn’t connecting to the internet. Even though my PC is online, Cubase doesn’t recognize any internet connection. Is there anything I can do to fix that?

Once again, it’s not Cubase that checks licences, it’s the plugin.
Phone home is the term used for when a plugin tries to connect to a server to verify a licence. All software on a subscription does this to some extent or another.
As for internet connections, that’s beyond my expertise. I do know that some anti-virus software can interfere with this process. Maybe someone here with more knowledge can help.

I have a Boris FX sub. When the sub is about to expire, the plugins sometimes stop working, and I have to login to my online web account (not via the software, via the website) to get them to work again. Even though I am permanently online. Just an idea.

Yes I have the Same problem
I can only guess its due to Elicense provider is ending on 20th March and Steinberg will be taking over the licensing process
I had just reinstalled Cubase 11 after jot using for a couple of years and this notice came up giving this info
If any users cubase is not registered before March 20th, then they will have to purchase a new license

This is non-accurate information…
