Let us know which VST2.x plug-ins are working in Dorico

At the moment, only Kontakt is whitelisted in the VST 2.x plug-in whitelist, so that it appears in Dorico by default. We would like to expand the whitelist for our first post-release update to include other VST 2.x plug-ins that we know are working properly with Dorico.

If you would like help making whitelisting VST 2.x plug-ins for your own installation of Dorico, please see our Knowledge Base article.

To help us expand the whitelist, please post in this thread including the following details:

  1. The name of the plug-in you have successfully tested, ideally including the version number if applicable.
  2. Your operating system.
  3. The relevant lines from the vst2whitelist.txt file, i.e. the plug-in filename and the GUID (the long alphanumeric string).

Thanks!

To find all your VST (Win), check this topic

The referenced instructions for finding the GUID do not work. There is no information in the Defaults.xml file to determine which GUID name in the Components\Category Audio Module Class\Available group correspond to which plugin. In my Defaults.xml file, there is a list of 70+ GUIDs all with their value set to 1 but no plugin names associated to them. There are none with their value set to 0.

[This is probably not the right thread to post this, so MODS please delete/move as necessary]

  1. Copy the name of the plugin faithfully (without the extension) and put it into its own line in the WHITELIST file. Then put 32 zeros on the line beneath it. The plugin itself will have to reside in one of the default paths. (there is an xml file listing those as well - install a reader that formats xml in a digestive way, e.g. (equivalent to) notepad2 on windows)
  2. Start Dorico and quit again immediately. The xml files will get updated.
  3. Open the defaults.xml file and look for the line with 32 alphanumeric charachters ending in “=0”. That will be your plugin. Change the “0” to “1” and copy those 32 glyphs (the GUID) to the clipboard and save the file. If there is no such line ending in “0” then your plugin has not passed the verification.
  4. Open the WHITELIST file again and replace the line with 32 zeros with the GUID from the clipboard. SAVE.
  5. Launch Dorico and your plugin should be available.

(If this is wrong or incomplete then a bottle of Barolo is to blame…

Note: It is useful to use MIR Pro as an insert when not using VE Pro or when using multiple instances of VE Pro to get around MIDI channel limitations. This will be alleviated if Dorico supports the muti-MIDI port feature in VST3.

This is a subset of plugin effects for the Universal Audio Apollo Twin. They all seem to work but you need to have the proper hardware to use them. They will disable themselves if you try to insert them without the hardware connected.
