Looking for an ultra wide high rez monitor

Hello everyone. I am setting up a songwriting studio for quick recording in addition to my main studio which is built around a Presonus Studio Live 32SX unit. This one is running on a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 interface with an AMD 9955HX laptop. I am looking at ultra wide monitors for this setup and am wondering if any of you have advice on one or if I should stick with a two monitor setup. Thank you in advance for all responses.

Barry

How wide is “Ultra wide”?
I used to have two 32-inch 2560x1440 monitors and switched to a single 49-inch 32:9 5120x1440 monitor. Same size desktop, but without the pesky line in the middle. I’d be reluctant to go back.

Mr. Bard,

What monitor brand and model are you using now?

thank you for the response.

I use a Dell ultrawide curved monitor with a native 5120 x 2160 resolution. Don’t skimp on vertical resolution, as most ultra-wides do.

I run at 125% DPI, but if your eyes are really good, you could run at 100% and fit a lot on the screen.

The actual one I use (U4021QW) is not made anymore,

But I see they now have one that is 6144x2560 and an overall larger display. Could probably run that at 100%

Depending on where your studio monitors are located, you may want to measure the actual width/height of the display you order.

This one:
AOC AGON AG493UCX2 -49 Inch Dual QHD Curved Gaming Monitor

Ha ha! Nice!

Nice. I don’t have room for the 49 inch monitors. The widest I can fit is 40 inches. I was looking at QLED monitors but I see they are prone to burn in ghosting. I’ll probably get an IPS type. Thank you for the information sir.

And when mixing surround they double as a really nice DIY plate reverb :stuck_out_tongue:

Scots prefer plaid reverbs.
I respectfully refrain from providing further details with regard to mic techniques at this point.

Sorry for that and yes, I will keep it to myself for the rest of the day!
