I purchased the Spitfire Symphony Orchestra (2024) (not the older) earlier this year and have been using it successfully in Logic Pro. Now, I’d like to integrate it with Dorico 5 and possibly Cubase 13, but I’m having trouble finding ready-to-use Expression Maps for either platform.
I’ve searched for both free and paid options, but so far, no luck. Does anyone here know where I can find or purchase them? Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Some information here, the beginning information might be useful:
Also, just to add, NotePerformer has its own support for SSO (2024) as an add-on to the purchase of NotePerformer. Many of us here use NotePerformer, either as the playback template itself or with the new Playback engines, using our sample libraries (only specified ones), so it takes all the expression map thing away.
NotePerformer
There is information on the Playback engines and demos of each library it supports near the bottom:
Just to make it clear, you purchase NotePerformer itself, then a separate purchase (should you wish) for the Playback engine to trigger your SSO library.
You will find various threads on NotePerformer here with a search.
Thank you so much for your detailed response and the time you took to help! I really appreciate it.
I had actually looked into NotePerformer earlier this year, and while I understand it’s a great tool for achieving a quick and relatively convincing playback, I didn’t find it particularly efficient for my specific needs. It’s definitely a fantastic solution for many, though!
As for creating Expression Maps and Percussion Maps, I’m comfortable doing that myself, so the process isn’t the issue. The problem is I simply don’t have the time right now to dedicate hours to this, especially considering the extensive articulation options in the SSO library, particularly when dealing with the custom percussion kits. If I had the time, I’d focus on making just the Percussion Maps for the custom sets.
That’s why I was hoping to find ready-made Expression/Percussion Maps for purchase—at this moment, it’s a time constraint, not a matter of know-how.
That said, if I can’t find a pre-made solution, I might consider purchasing NotePerformer and the relevant add-on for the SSO library and give it a try. I really hope it will turn out to be efficient for my workflow!
Thank you for your response and for sharing the link.
I’m familiar with that page—back in the spring, it was really helpful for downloading templates, expression/percussion maps for the BBC SO (I have both libraries). Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be anything available for the SSO there.
@Alfredo_Migliavacca NotePerformer has a free trial as you probably saw, and the various Playback engines run for a while as a demo then stop (I think) so this should give you some idea of how it sounds so you can evaluate.
I’m sure some here would appreciate an Expression map for SSO if one does not exist yet (sorry I did not check!)
