So far, the end of service for the old licensing system has been announced to be in early 2025. Now, we know for sure - it will be in May 2025.
Don’t wait until the last minute to do your maintenance checks - every one else will be clamouring to do it as well. They won’t have to shut down the servers, we’ll have done it for them!.
Hi,
With my experience that some users are buying wrong updates, I wouldn’t also wait until May 2025. I don’t see a reason to wait at all.
For anyone with expansion packs, or other software that depended on the old licensing, I’d recommend going onto the system and checking that you are off the old licensing system. Quite a few of these were silently updated so don’t expect an email or other notification from Steinberg but I believe their whole product range that is under maintenance is sorted now. For example, the URC44 plugins I had, I only tripped over a forum post.
IIRC, most of mine required a voucher which was automatically added to the MySteinberg system, but the process wasn’t entirely consistent across products, (some needed access to the eLicencer but not, as I recall, all) so read up for each product you still have a eLicence for.
This place is going to explode with threads regarding this issue once we’re about 1 week away from this happening. Also, think of all the users who don’t frequent this forum and are going to be caught by surprise. I sure hope Steinberg is emailing everyone with a registered copy. Regardless, there are going to be a bunch of members losing their minds.
Of course most users does not hang on Steinbergs web or forums.
I am afraid you are right about it. In three to four months, this forum will be flooded with threads related to this topic and it will catch a lot of users by surprise no matter what Steinberg does or does not do.
