i foudn this but there is problem not scale entered notes distances nicely to new size how i can archive it? i mean they stay correct. whole thing needed for example rare case where text in measure overlaps next measure content.
stretch and shrink bar width - Dorico - Steinberg Forums
or is correct way select all notes of measure and then do such adjust ment? is bit hard when there is multiple staves in project. i hope there is somekind more automatic way if possible.
I mean its width what is automatic normally but some cases text elements overlap with next measure when i need adjust these. at least such cases.
Can you please share some pictures or a project file that demonstrates the issue you’re having? I can’t picture the situation or problem you’re talking about.
Edit: OK, I think you mean by “next measure” the next bar in the flow, rather than e.g. a bar in the next system above or below.
yes next right measure (also one what is time way next). i can check if get can get happen with purpoise.no but i think one Steinbergs own examples have one text soeme what shows what i mean try look if i found it.
and adjusting note spacing solves this partly when i found suitable values all cases and easily do them for example 50% larger becouse then ratios are same what is important i feel but i feel popup values help this they feel suitable for such use. but there is cygnus the swan (or something like this named project) old example file what has this terrible thing here: (even more worse thing what i talked as you see text starts one page and overlaps next page things of course printed cuts in first page put area what is next page is also here but inbeetween goes away at least printing preview thing shows this way what shows when we are edit side but edit side shows whole text)
ps. this exact is thing is tempo marking this project some reason) but similar things happen also with text elements. i like idea meausre size can scaled larger if there is long text/tempo markings i mean automatico if course technique what is given another person solves it with little work.
In this case, I would probably just try to format the part so that where the pp and tempo mark occur is put at the start of the next system. That way, the tempo mark has lots of horizontal space to spread into.
Meaning: put a system break at the “Becoming faster…” tempo mark.
Adjusting the horizontal spacing to fit this text in the small space available before the right page margin would probably result in the music becoming very unevenly spaced and odd-looking.
Interestingly that demo file displays differently in older versions of Dorico. I don’t have Dorico v1 on a machine I can easily lay my hands on, but in Dorico 2 that tempo mark falls at the beginning of a system (which is where any sensible engraver would put it):
The spacing algorithms have definitely changed and improved in Dorico over time, so if you’re likely to need to revisit old projects in future, it’s worth locking your formatting when finishing a project, or hanging onto older versions of Dorico.
I thinked also when i double click text frame in engrave side some cases selects flow text element (one have flow name etc) not my custom text frame.
I have only Dorico 4 Pro, and Dorico Pro 5.
I definitely wouldn’t use a text frame for tempo text.
this exact case yes this indeed spacing makes odd result very likely i think cases where i dont simply want do system break but i have also very long text. saddly all times where we have lot such text i feel we cannot simply use your idea.
this tempo frame this project what is not made by me. and text frames (some cases lyrics becouse they have one difference) i think use other playing instructions what are not allready defined and i still want do own playing technique becouse if such technique is long text and maybe project level unique sounds funny idea.
