I noticed that there were older topics in German but since I do not speak that language I have to ask.
Suddenly my M-Audio Keyboard can’t be found anywhere in Cubase 15 PRO. I just can´t find a way to make Cubase get in touch with it.
As I remember it worked fine in Cubase 12 PRO from the day I installed Cubase 12 PRO on my computer. Have tried to compare the settings to see why Cubase 15 PRO does not accept the keyboard by itself.
In my old version of Cubase it came up directly and Cubase even recognized it as a Keystation 61 in the menu for what instrument I would chose to use when recording.
Strange but if someone know the answer I would appreciate how to make it work as expected.
Are you talking about the common MIDI Input, or the MIDI Remote only? If you are talking about the MIDI Remote, there is a known issue, described (for example) here.
If you are talking about the MIDI Port in general, Cubase takes the MIDI Port from the system (are you on Windows or Mac)? Can you see the device in the Studio > Studio Setup > MIDI Ports Setup? Can you see the device on the system level?
Its not visible anywhere in Cubase any longer and when I read the messages in the thread you addressed I got depressed. Didn´t understand a micrometer of all issues that people got with lost keyboards and stuff. I am not a computer scientist or technician and probably got more confused.
But wonder how its even possible that Cubase technical experts still haven´t fixed this because it must be a huge problem for more composers than me.
I have some more questions about things I have discovered the latest week when all work have been sucked in a pipeline of problems. Some because I am new to Cubase 15 Pro and some because of technical issues caused by Steinberg way beyond my skills.
Hi. Well the Studio Setup’s Midi Port Setup is blank. However a window pops up that mentions M-Audio Keystation but that can´t be used and go further with cause non of the buttons are active.
No, I mean, if Windows can see the device as connected, as a MIDI device.
Open Device Manager → expand Sound, video and game controllers and look for your USB-MIDI interface/controller (many devices show up here).
Also check Audio inputs and outputs (some interfaces expose ports here too) and Universal Serial Bus controllers if the device is connecting but not enumerating correctly.
Well, Windows 11 recognize the Keyboard without problems but not Cubase 15 PRO.
I opened a new song file in my version of Cubase 12 PRO and there the Keyboard came up without problems. Playable and with its name in the MIDI Ports setup window.
I also checked the Device Manager and the M-Audio Keystation Keboard was there!
So just to check up it this is a fail in Windows 15 PRO I opened my Windows 12 PRO and found the M-Audio Keyboard there without problems but not in Cubase 15 PRO where it can´t be seen or establish contact with.

Suddenly it worked after I opened Cubase 12 PRO and used the keyboard in there. Then I shut the computer down and started it over again. Started Cubase 15 PRO and then the Keyboard suddenly was there.
Have not a bright idea of what happened but sometimes its maybe the best, at least if you are not a computer tech wizard.
