Softube announced today that their new Fader Mk3 unit will ship with a Midi Remote script to allow for plugin-less usage of the unit, but due to API limitations I wonder if it will support visibility configurations. Anyone know about this?
I’ve even heard ICON is looking into supporting midi remote with its series of control surfaces too, and we’re also seeing devices by Nektar and Novation ship with them too, but without mixer visibility config support it really limits the usefullness of these 8-10 fader boxes.
Are we still hoping to get this feature sometime soon?
Please, Steinberg… this is literally my most needed feature in my studio. I have a template that I use for tracking that has about 30 channels. Inputs for drums, guitars, bass, keyboards, scratch vocals, final vocals, etc… The Midi Remote functionality with the Behringer X touch (MCU) has added the ability to have my control surfaces follow my track selection. Before this, it was a flow-killer having to bank tracks manually on the X-touch, and I barely used my Mackie control until Midi Remote came along. Now it is like a dream to use except for one problem… If I am working on a song that has drums, bass, guitar only (for example)… and I want to hide ALL of the other tracks in my session so I am not scrolling or clicking from one end of the session to the other constantly, then my screen gets nice and organized, but my control surface doesn’t change. Once again, this is distracting and a workflow killer for me… so much so, I have brought my Faderport out of retirement so I can use visibility and also quickly control my session, as my Xtouch and extender sit there just looking pretty and that’s about it, until I am in the mixing stage.
It is SO CLOSE to being there. Please add this functionality as soon as you are able. It would be greatly appreciated!
Yep. Visibility Configs are unfortunately more important than track follow, IF I can only have one, but man it’d be nice to get both.
BTW, a workaround to the lack of track follow on MCU units is to create a key command to “show only selected track,” which should bring it quickly up on your Mackie Unit to apply automation to, and then you can either undo that visibility config or switch to another preset vis config. Works well enough, but there are so many other downsides to Mackie that I want to switch to Midi Remote and can’t do so til this one essential feature is implemented (and I don’t believe there are any workarounds on the midi remote side)
