Trying to get my minor chords to use a hyphen instead of “M” as the latter is large enough to confuse players (into thinking major).
In Engraving Options, it shows the symbol thus:
After choosing that, I get this (looks like an underscore):
Have you imported any fonts? Or is this project imported from anywhere else?
I’m not sure if this answers your question, but …
Also - this project was started from scratch I believe.
Try switching to Petaluma Script for Chord Symbols Font and Petaluma Text for Chord Symbols Music Text Font. It won’t look exactly the same as the Finale Jazz font, but the alignment of all the symbols should be better.
Hi Daniel - Thanks for this info. Yes, Petaluma is better for Font and Music Text font. I wish there was a way to increase the size of the accidentals after the root chord. I’ve looked in Engrave Options>Chord Symbols>Scale Factor but that doesn’t seem to affect them.
Same goes for the minor/minus sign (after the C).
Sorry to be picky, but a lot of the time we’re reading these charts off an iPad where everything is a bit condensed (even on the large 13”). Or maybe it’s just old people with bad eyesight!
Thanks again for the help!
Dan
Yes. I can see that!
I don’t see “Chord Symbols Slash Font” in my Font Styles window. I’m using Dorico 5.1
Yeah, there’s no control over the slash size and positioning so I made a doricolib file to add that Font Style. I posted a zip file of it, as well as the code, and a walkthrough on how to use it in this thread. You may need to edit the file to get the percentage and offset values that work with your fonts.
