Wouldn’t this tool end up in a monstrous amount of phase incoherencies and deliver sub-standard results? I’m thinking about what would happen to a multitrack drum take while using such a tool…
I really can’t see the point of this feature, could anyone please share experiences on its utility so I can try to open my mind about it?
Thanks
So for example I want to record a guitar take with 3 mics and 2 direct outs (one dry, one crunch), all running though different signal paths and colour boxes. I record all 5 signals, but because I spend all my time moaning about not having freewarp on cubase forums, I havent practiced guitar in ages so my timing is off. I want to nudge a few blooper notes into check to get things locked in to the groove and pretend to my friends that I nailed it first time. Nudging warp markers is dull enough for one 3 minute take, but for 5 individual tracks that all need the exact same nudges? I’ll find an excuse to never finish that track…like all the other ones Works great in Ableton. Not tried in Studio one yet, but have downloaded the demo and will be trying this weekend. I should really just practice guitar more.
Hi, thank you for sharing your view. But that use is precisely the one that would generate most phasing issues and sub-standard results. Warping algorithms are pretty good today, compared to what they were a decade ago, but not good enough to deliver a proper sound under those circumstances. Believe me, I’ve tried If you have different tracks from the same sound source you will end up with a poor end-result. My suggestion would be correcting the dry DI alone and reamplifying it, so you could get a perfect phase coherent tone among all mics.
I know this is a very popular feature request but I don’t think people are aware of how unsatisfactory results such a tool would provide with the current time-stretching algorithms. It’s not for no reason that most engineers still prefer “slice and crossfade” to audiowarp when editing multitrack takes.
But tell me how your experiences go, I’m looking forward to it!
touche, this is what I’ve already said. This is one of those requests that everyone thinks they “want” - like ‘Gapless Audio Engine’ in which everyone says so and so DAW doesn’t gap when adding a plugin, they don’t realize that all those other DAWs have terrible PDC and their tracks wont be phase aligned until they hit stop and play again.

meanwhile the clucky workaround would be to convert the 5 mono guitar tracks to one 5.0 audio track, free warp it to your liking ,and then convert it back to 5 mono tracks
(the convert tracks function in located under the project menu )
Whaaaaat?! Mozizo, you are a genius. You just made my day. Looking forward to testing this at weekend.
If this works as well as I hope, I shudder to think how long that feature has been available and Ive missed it! 99% of my freewarp needs taken care of.
Seriously dude, thanks for that. Great share.
there’s also this method which I haven’t tested yet
I have been doing this for many many years directly in the arrange window since Cubase SX/C5 days. Maybe that will help some of you: +++ MULTI WARP IN ARRANGE! +++ My workflow: select all events. Group them (key command Strg/Cmd+G). Switching...
