N8/N12 Support

Ah, great news - now I can upgrade to Cubase 7. Thanks for sharing and keeping this thread up to date!

Aloha guys and here we go again.

Found this dated: 8/5/2013.

Either that is Aug 5 or May 8 but in any case
it is later than the last update dated: Feb 19.

Been using it for just over a week now.
n12 feels ver very solid.

How solid?
Till now I forgot that I was even using it.

No glitching. Seems to be OK with C6.5/7.

Long shot here but if in the near future I do any ‘real’ projects with C5
I’ll report back on results.

YMMV

That driver is from August 5th 2013 and it seems to be only a minor update making the installer compatible with Gatekeeper on OS X. So it should not break anything.

Still good to know that they are keeping things up to date.

Aloha.

Long shots can and do sometimes happen.

Hi, I am having real problems with my new IMac, I have had to buy firewire 400 to 800 and then 800 to thunderbolt cable.but the imac does not see the Yamaha n12. I have downloaded the drivers but nothing. Any thoughts?

Aloha D,

Is the ‘Yamaha Control Panel’ app in your applications folder?

If it is there, what happens when you double clik on it?

(I keep an ‘alias’ in the ‘Dock’ for quick access)

Aloha guys,

Anyone successfully using the n12/C6/7 with Mavericks (10.9)?

Been checking the n12 forum over at Gearslutz.

No one has reported in as of yet.

TIA (thanks in advance)

Aloha guys,

Seems Yamy is testing. (Mac and PC)
End of November seems to be a sort of ‘target’ date.

Fingers crossed.

Aloha guys,

Looks like Yamy is on the case.

Seems I am not.

This update came out days ago and because
of watching only one particular Yamaha site
seems I missed it.

Anyway I’ll be trying it out (along with Steiny’s patch)
this up coming week.

Good Luck

To the mods:
n12/8 users have been posting about drivers/tools etc
in this thread for quite a while now.

But since C6 is not ‘Marvericks friendly’ (and will not be in the future),
should I start a new thread about this topic (n12/8 updates) in C7 territory?

Tanx.

thanks for updating the thread! Seems like the new driver is pretty much the same as the old driver just now officially supporting Mavericks. I have recently purchased the upgrade to Cubase 7 and am going to test this in the coming days. Will report here about any successes/failures

Cheers

Aloha guys Just to report in…

n12/Mavericks (10.9)/ C7.5 all playing well together here.

Curteye,

What made you change your mind about installing 10.9 before Yamaha officially supported the N12? Or is there an update to the drivers I’m not seeing?

Also, what kind of VST effects and instruments are you using. I’m just asking to get an idea of how heavy you’re pushing you computer. I want to upgrade to 7.5 and OSX 10.9 but I really don’t want any showstoppers at this point.

Your input is much appreciated.

I just did a search and I obviously missed the link you posted earlier.
What I don’t get is the driver link you posted on Nov 25 says it works with OSX 10.9 but on Nov 26 they are saying the N12 is still being tested according to this link

http://download.yamaha.com/api/asset/file/?language=en&site=ae.yamaha.com&asset_id=57068

It doesn’t make sense…?

Yeah! Kinda confusing eh?

I was going to wait till 10.9.1 so I had been trying this 10.9. config on a separate partition.
It all seems to work very well together. So I jumped.
(now I am afraid of what 10.9.1 will do).

As far as as 'pushing the ‘puter’, I use all the typical stuff.
Omni/Trill/Ivory/SupDrums etc
as well as all the Steiny/NI/Waves/SampleTank/IK stuff.

Also lots o’ lil 3rd party crap that simply sound great.
(Vibe eq etc)

BTW
We are looking seriously at going Nuage in the coming year
with a couple of new Mac Pros.
Will then put the old n12 out to pasture. :frowning:

{‘-’}

Thanks Curteye,

You use it very similar to how I do then. I think I’ll wait til I finish the album I’m working on before making any moves. It’s good to know the FW driver is there.

Maybe Yamaha is just waiting for you’re endorsement before they say it’s okay.

Aloha guys, (old thread here but still helpful)

Wondering about the n12 and Mac OS 10.10.0.

Anyone yet have this combination working successfully?

There are no specific drivers at this point.

Been checking here:
http://download.yamaha.com/api/asset/file/?language=en&site=ae.yamaha.com&asset_id=57068

Any info would be great.

TIA (thanks in advance) and Mahalo.

Aloha guys,

I may be wrong (and I sure hope I am) but it looks like Yamy is not even testing for the
‘n’ series and Mac Yosemite (10.10.0)

Gearslutz poster ‘n12Tech’ warned us about this possiblity several months ago.

I’ll keep an ‘eye’ out and report any change.

Good Luck!
{‘-’}

Yea!

Yamy is testing for the n12/n8 series and Mac OSX 10.10.0 (Yosemite)

Hope all goes well.

Aloha guys,

Seems all is well both Mac OS 10.10 and Win 8.1 with the n12.

Does any1 know if the newest Cubase 8 work with Yamaha N12 under OSX 10.9?
