Need help in order to share a Cubase session with Zoom

Hi everyone. I’m trying to set up a workflow through which I can share a Cubase session with my bandmates using Zoom, in order to mix songs and whatnot while not being all in the same place.
Looking online and on this forum, we found that a possible “simple” solution might be using Voicemeeter, but we are still struggling with understanding the correct routing in the different applications, so that, if I share my device’s audio in Zoom, everyone else can hear the audio playing in Cubase, while still being able to hear each other through our own mics.
Voicemeeter has lots of different inputs and outputs and we are all completely new to it, so trying to set up the correct routing in all three applications has resulted in a total mess so far.

Does anyone have more experience with this kind of things? What would be the correct steps in order to achieve the result that we are aiming for?
Or maybe any other simpler solution?
Thanx!

@Fabrizio_Amapane just a question. Have you tried Vst connect for cubase? See video link below.

Please search this forum for “Cubase with Zoom” or “Cubase with OBS”. This has been asked and answered several times already. I think the last time was not even one month ago.

I had a few minutes, here are a couple forum posts about the topic:

Thanks everyone for the replies, I’ll check both the videos and the forum, I hope to find the solution.

Buy an external audio mixer and connect audio output into its input, also add a microphone. The easiest and bugs free solution.

I have some experience with VoiceMeeter and Zoom. I use it with clients to review my mix updates.

My audio interface, MOTU 16A, allows for multiple software to access it at the same time. I think this is key at least for my setup. So both Nuendo and Voicemeeter can get access to it.

In Nuendo I have a dedicated output bus that is set to the MOTU. It goes to outputs 13/14 or something like that, a pair of outputs that I don’t use for anything else. In the MOTU interface mixer that is accessed via a browser GUI I just take 13/14 from Nuendo and send it back to the computer.

Voicemeeter can now take that input signal from the MOTU as if it was any input signal. Voicemeeter then also gets both my mic signal (via VBAN) and the signal from Zoom.

Those three signals then get routed in Voicemeeter using whatever is appropriate. The MOTU/Nuendo input goes straight to the Zoom app, the mic / VBAN also goes to the Zoom app, and the input from Zoom goes straight to the MOTU (analog out 1/2) along with the Nuendo main mix output.

It actually works very well except for video latency which is something you don’t have to worry about I think.

So the two key features that makes that work for me are:

1: my interface allowing multi-client access (both VM and Nuendo, simultaneously)

2: my interface software mixer allows “loopback” of an input (Nuendo back to computer)

Does that help? I’ll be more than happy to elaborate.

The MUSE app is absolutely perfect for many types of online audio/video/screen sharing. Highly recommended.

Yes the whole Zoom with good quality audio and video is a bit of a nightmare tbh. There are so many hoops to jump through.

As a quick solution maybe have a look at Waves Stream. There’s no video but you could always share your screen on Zoom or even not worry about the video side.
Waves Stream is very simple, just a plug-in insert on any channel, and will stream to any platform, including phones etc.

Hello and thanx to all for the replies. I’have found a very simple solution. If it could be useful I downloaded Sonobus a free software that works perfectly in addition to Zoom and Supremo. I’ve put Sonobus on the stereo output of Cubase mixer (like a VST) and all work perfectly. My bandmate can interact on the PC (via Supremo) we talk and see each other via Zoom and hears the audio coming out of Cubase with Sonobus.
