I mean, we’re always one day closer… ![]()

Already found out the “tap twice” for a dotted note, and was very glad with it, but this one is really a wonder! As @benwiggy writes: it’s an absolute life-saver in baroque music.
There are seemingly endless strings of dotted eights with a sixteenth, and even with the tap twice that is a lot of work, but now… (Only just found this out àfter I needed it, oh well)
I also came across this based on reading this forum (should have read the release notes more thoroughly!) and find the ease of double-dotting a fabulous improvement! Yay Dorico team!
Isn’t that soothing?
This thing (adding a dot to a series of quavers to get a series of dotted quavers-16th notes) was demonstrated by Daniel Spreadbury before Dorico 1.0 was out. It really impressed me and I’ve been using that just one hour ago (and Verdi is not baroque music) ![]()
Dear Daniel,
Sorry, my intention was not to be unpleasant to you. I have too much respect for your work and that of your team for that.
Perhaps I should have clarified my intention by saying that if this feature could have been a quick win, it would be very useful to me. Of course, no one in this forum is able to estimate the real technical complexity of an improvement in Dorico apart from the team.
I agree that it must be frustrating to work so much on new features and improvements while users are still complaining about what they are missing for them.
Good luck for the release of this new version
Before using the Dorico Pro 5 trial, I only tested the SE version and was not that interested in Dorico 5. However, I have been using Dorico 5 Pro on my project since last week and now think that Dorico 5 is worth upgrading from Dorico 4. I wanted to upgrade, but the online store is closed. I hope Steinberg can find a new online store before my Dorico 5 Pro trial licence expires!
I expect much of Steinberg’s revenue stream (other than retail sales via local vendors) is frozen until they find an online outlet, which means they are doing everything they can to move ahead on this part of their business.
I, too, hope to see Steinberg re-establish direct online sales and the ability to move ahead releasing software updates.
Impact analysis - the most painful part of designing a change, and very hard to get completely right!
It’s the equivalent of my foodie line: “Every time someone puts cream in a carbonara, a little Italian nonna dies”
It’s been mentioned that you can request an extension of the trial license if needed.
Wow, that must be the world’s friendliest service of all time.
Thank you for letting me know it!
Well, it’s the best customers’ support I’ve ever seen, so I’m not surprised!
That should be their motto
Good to see the shop is back with suitable financial incentives ![]()

Is it?
I still see " Please note: The Steinberg online shop is currently unavailable. Find out more" when I try to buy whatever product on steinberg.net.
Soon, I think. Not now.
I got a preview alert on my email and trialed a purchase which took me to the point of logging in to pay. There is a coupon code to use for reductions as well
Best
Daniel has stated on the lounge thread that the store is opening up for a subset of users who have special codes, to test its functionality, before it opens up globally for business as usual. It is indeed open for that subset of trial users. No new products are on offer yet.
