I wanted to try Dorico before possible switching from Sibelius so I installed Dorico SE but cannot get any audio. I’ve tried everything but no sound. Could Sibelius be the problem? I don’t wish to uninstall Sibelius in order to find if there is a clash. Any ideas?
There shouldn’t be any conflict between the two.
Have you checked the settings in Edit > Device Setup?
Also, try reapplying the playback template from the play menu.
And welcome to the forum @Dave_the_Rave
There are many, many threads on getting the sound setup correct. There are different solutions depending on your OS (Win or Mac). For most users “it just works” - whereas others seem to have very specific configurations that cause problems.
Uploading a Dorico Diagnostic file (Help>Create Diagnostics Report) should allow one the Dorico team to resolve your problems.
Hi @Dave_the_Rave , additionally to what has been said already, please go through the steps in this topic. If you still can’t get sound out then please create a new project from piano template, enter a couple of arbitrary notes and then do from the menu Help > Create Diagnostics Report and post the corresponding zip file here. From that I will be able to give further advice. Thanks
Hi Ulf,
Thanks for the prompt responses from you guys.
Diagnostic Zip attached. Hope you can help

Thanks for the data, but to be honest, I did not find anything suspicion or unusual within. The only thing I noticed was, that your M-Audio interface is set up to put out audio via SPDIF and not the analog outputs. Did you choose that on purpose?
The SPDIF seemed to be logical option but I tried the analog and still no sound.
The Activation Manager mentions Dorico SE and nothing else - I assume that includes Halion?
The Download Assistant has 5 items all ticked green - but with install again against the top four (Version History is unticked and says Open).
Could it be a download problem?
I have Windows 10 with M-Audio soundcard which has served me well for years.
Thanks for you help
Dave
Solved. I had a remote session with Dave, and with a different driver it works now.
Thanks for your help Ulf. Everything working now. The problem I had was that the wrong ASIO driver did not trigger the Device Control Panel. Had I selected the Generic driver I might have found the solution myself. I am now in a position to test drive the Dorico before committing myself.
Thanks again for your time,
Regards
Dave
