Notation and Playback for Latin Percussion

As a newcomer to Dorico from Finale, I’d appreciate some tips on getting the appropriate notation set up for instruments such as congas and timbales with all the various playing techniques such as heel, tip, slap (congas) as well as playing with the stick on the side of a timbale. Secondly it would great to also be able to apply the correct sounds to the notation. It seems that the sound sets for these instruments are fairly limited in scope. Could someone please explain either where I can find these sounds within the software provided by Dorico and/or VST’s that I could incorporate into Dorico to get these sounds in the playback? Thanks in advance for reading this request and I look forward to any help.

I could help you with that, in fact I just “released” the Toontracks’ Orchestral Percussion perc maps, so all those techniques are included, that is why it rings a bell to me… (available freely in another thread)
You could study how I’ve mapped them (because they are available in the first place, and what playback techniques I created)
One thing I don’t know is whether there is a better way to notate those different techniques. I admit that I created my own way of notating them that seemed logical to me but I would perfectly understand if it’s something that should be changed!

Thanks very much, Marc. I like the graphics in the .pdf. After I’ve studied the maps a bit, I may have a few more questions, but this seems to be what I was looking for.
Cheers

I indicate the different techniques by using H, S, T etc above the notes. I have Playing Techniques set up for each of these.

A percussion playing friend of mine sent me these as a reference:
