NotePerformer 4 Released

Yes, that’s perfect.

I do have Core installed, but I have not been using it, only Pro. I’ll try activating it.

@Wallander here’s a passage I copied from my original file where the difference is VERY pronounced.
it’s just a straight-forward string ensemble, no solos.

The new installation of NP only shows BBC Pro, Core shows as not installed. However, I did own Core, but when I upgraded to BBC Pro, Core gets integrated into that. BBC Pro always worked in the previous NP version, but now it loads, but no sound is produced. BBC Core shows as not active in the NPPE menu.

Presumable you reloaded the NPPE engines you use after updating NP4 itself. I also had to reload the sounds into NPPE, and everything seems to run smoothly.

(I also restarted my machine, not that it’s necessary, but because it seems a good idea whenever I do an upgrade. I also updated my Kontakt and NI sounds.)

Hi Arne,

This update is really awesome! Much more natural and balanced. Articulations are improved greatly as well. However I still noticed some short notes of trumpt in the attached project file are played louder that other notes in the phrase in NPPE with all my sample libraries (BBCSO Core, Synchron Prime, OT Berkeley, HOOPUS). While the NP built-in sound plays beautifully. Even if I put a legato playing technique trying to force it play legato, the issue persists. Maybe somewhere worth further tweak. Please kindly look into it when possible. Thanks again for the great work!

Hearty congratulations, Arne. With the release of an NPPE for regular Synchron libraries I believe I am ready to take the plunge.

It’s got to be difficult to implement various tempos and styles at the same time, differentiating nuances that are easily grasped by the human mind but not so easily mirrored in programming. You are making tremendous strides.

I did all that. The odd thing is that the Synchron library is playing fine. When you load the BBC library by itself it will play. It’s just not working in NPPE.

Finally got BBCSO Pro working in new NPPE. It required a complete repair and reintegration of all the BBC Spitfire files!

Does this sound like is used to?

If not, please let me know where the difference is.

I’m glad you’re up and running. We’ve never encountered that. I’ve seen it referenced outside of NPPE, but never with NPPE.

no, when I play it back, even those first two notes (cellos and basses) are distinctly separated.

can I post an audio file directly here on the forum?

this is what I get (directly exported as an MP3 file)

The Xbox Game Bar is included with Windows, which you can use to do screen recordings

There are custom MIDI playback overrides in this document. The notes are too short to overlap for legato for NotePerformer, since we expect notes to be 105% length (the original legato-note length for Dorico). You can see the “Playback end offset” being active for the note in this screenshot.

To fix it, please select the entire score and do Play > Reset Playback Overrides.

Your’s is very separated. Does the clip I posted sound like it should? I made a quick fix.

yes, the clip you posted sounds as it should.

Perfect.

Since I’ve already fixed it, it will be in first maintenance update for 4.2.

Thank you SO much for this update. Big improvement! Here is a work of mine for concert band that puts NP (with NPPE & VSL) to the test. Lots of close harmony, dynamics and articulations.
