NotePerformer 5 Update

O.K. So I see that NotePereformer 5 has been released today. Is it pretty safe to go ahead and download that update from NP 4 or is it a good idea to wait a while to see if any “bugs” show up in working with Dorico 6? I know that for several years when using Finale it was always recommended that whenever a new Mac OS was introduced is was wise to not update until it was established that it would work well with the existing version of Finale. I’m a little skeptical about updating NP 5 when I just updated to Dorico 6 last week.
Any advice from those in the know?
Thanks

If you’re using “core” NotePerformer and are not making use of NotePerformer Playback Engines for third-party sound libraries, in my estimation it’s completely safe to update.

I am not sure. I am just using NP 4 for playback in Dorico and not using any 3rd party sound libraries, I don’t think, although I must be honest and say your explanation is a little above my pay grade. But it sounds like for the very basic use I am using NP for it should be safe to update to NP 5.
Thanks so much.

If you haven’t purchased third-party sample libraries from BBC, Spitfire, Vienna Symphonic Library, etc., for which you would also have had to purchase NotePerformer’s separate Playback Engines (acronym: NPPEs) when using those libraries with NP ver. 4, then you are (like me) a “basic” NP user.

That’s me, for sure.
Thanks again for the solution.

P. S. — I put “basic” in quotes to reference your post, but — wow! — isn’t NP itself an amazing thing…?!?! I and no doubt you, among others, work very happily with such a sophisticated “basic” tool.

I am forever deeply grateful to @Wallander for this “basic”, incredible tool. Thank you ever so much, Arne.

FWIW, today I updated my ‘basic’ NP to v.5, and haven’t seen any problems yet. It Just Works!

Is the Halion bundled with Dorico 5 different from the Halion that can be registered in NotePerformer 5?

Yes. I guess the word"Basic" was not the best word to use since the sounds are so wonderful. What I meant by that was that I just use it as it “came out of the box” with not sophisticated work stations or anything else but my computer. It has the best sounds by far of anything I have ever used. I feel fairly confident that I can download NP 5 and that it will work well with my new version of Dorico 6.
Thanks again.

Totally understood! FWIW, I downloaded NP 5 this morning and had just a little time to take it for a spin in D6, and encountered no issues. I’m listening forward to being able to use it more and hear any general improvement (even if slight), as the release notes suggest have been implemented.

I upgraded to Noteperformer 5 coupled with Dorico 6 Pro without any problem. Also NPPE Spitfire BBCSO is running wonderfully with this setup. Thanks to Dorico and @Wallander

UPDATE: I did encounter a small problem today. It’s already reported in → this thread by @giventicket, and Arne Wallander is working on it.

I am getting confused, after reading lots of critical posts about NP 5. If one uses only the stock NP sounds (or multi outputs), never any NPPEs, is it better to stick to NP 4 instead of upgrading it to version 5? Thank you.

No, I don’t think so.

How do I upgrade from 3 to 5? I just see a buy option. How does upgrading work? Again: I don’t understand a thing about computers, so be slow and extremely clear, step by step, please. Thank you in advance.

If you already have a license for NP3, simply go to this page and enter the email you purchased it
