Now Available: WaveLab 13

Dear all,

We are very happy to announce the immediate availability of WaveLab Pro and WaveLab Elements 13, the newest versions of our beloved audio mastering and editing suite.

The main highlight of this new release is the introduction of an advanced yet intuitive workflow to master music for Dolby Atmos, making immersive audio production simple and efficient.

The new Master Montage allows you to finalize an Atmos mix just as you would normally do with a stereo mix. Among other things, you can apply plug-in effects across up to 128 channels at once, while all internal tools for editing, visualizing, analyzing, normalizing you’re familiar with from the conventional Audio Montage are still at your disposal when mastering in Atmos.

The Album Montage enables you to assemble a complete album from multiple ADM files. These files don’t need to have the same structure for you to place them side by side and process them together to achieve consistent levels across all tracks, control album‑wide dynamics, match track lengths and positions to their stereo versions, etc. Again, just as you would usually do with a traditional stereo mastering project.

For more information about the new Dolby Atmos mastering workflow in WaveLab Pro 13, you can visit this page or watch this video. We’ve also prepared a Demo-ADM file so you can try out the new Atmos functionality right away.

But there’s much more in WaveLab 13! This major update includes nearly 30 additional features and workflow enhancements — many of them requested directly by you, our valued WaveLab users. Highlights include optimized A/B comparison thanks to new Tab‑Synchronized Playback functionally, sidechain support for track plug‑ins, enhanced envelope functions, improved visualization and organization tools, and much more. The Audio Montage has also received significant upgrades, including new Rendering Source options, a track search function, quick Clip Gain adjustment, expanded color rules, a new Clip Ribbon tab, and many other improvements.

Additionally, MasterRig has been completely redesigned, offering a modern, fully scalable user interface, sidechain support, and new and improved modules. Six new effects are now part of the internal plug‑in set, including VocalChain, UltraShaper, Underwater, and PitchShifter.

For a full overview of all new features, please visit the WaveLab product page.

All in all, this is a major release we are incredibly proud of, and we sincerely hope that you — our loyal and valued customers — will be just as excited about it.

Sincerely,
Luis

Got it 20 min. ago and appreciated the 15% discount
On the first go asked to import from wavelab 12, I hope all settings will be the same :+1:

I’ll have a looksie.

Asked if I wanted to participate in a survey after purchasing the software update but when I clicked on the survey icon it said basically “you waited to long cannot process your request” followed by a 404 Error notification. FWIW

kind of annoying “new plugins” are actually just plugins that any cubase 15 user already has….

Existing Cubase plugins should just always be available in wavelab, not touted as a “new feature”

Found the answer to my question

Thanks for the 15% discount taken off the upgrade price…made this upgrade very reasonable in cost, especially given the upgrade features that were added.

Just bought it.

Thank you for keeping the direct downloads available. I still haven’t gotten the Steinberg Download Assistant to start (literally not one time). FWIW, yes, I’ve seen the thing about corrupted fonts breaking it on macOS….my problem is apparently different (validated, reverted to stock, re-installed, etc. with no changes).

But….the direct download and the registration worked perfectly.

Thank you, and congrats for the launch. I hope it’s as successful as you dreamed.

That 3D dude is hilarious. We should find a name for him. That’s almost like Agent 47 on his day off.

Things I have noticed:

  • The Wavelab online help menu entry opens the Wavelab 12 help for me.
  • I think it’s a bit confusing that when I select the Dolby Atmos binaural channel layout in the audio connections/playback, that this is magically switched to Surround Binaural where there isn’t even a Binaural Option available in the layout list. Not sure whether this is a bug or a feature, but for a user it is a bit weird in any case. It is especially weird that the manual points out that Binaural becomes available explicitly when “Dolby Atmos” is selected, but the configuration then doesn’t stay as Dolby Atmos channel configuration filter.
  • My guess is also that there will be a lot of forum posts asking why there is no sound when binaural is selected in the Atmos Renderer due to a missing binaural playback audio connection.

Binaural connection is configured as follows. You do not need two buses as in the Atmos demo video.

So great, thank you!
I bought Fiedler’s Dolby Atmos Mastering Console 2 some weeks ago - that might be a bit reduntant now (?). Only the headtracking with Airpods Pro on a Mac is a nice feature, which I’m missing here. But on the other side, I don’t need special immersive plugins or Wavelab like Toneboosters Equalizer Pro (which I’ve also just bought just for Fiedler).

And: I don’t know why, but NUGEN Stereoizer 3 seems to work now. I like the plugin so much, but Wavelab was the only program, where it didn’t store its settings.

Happy again with Wavelab.

Has anyone tried whether it works on macOS Ventura?

I can not figure out if I qualify for a WaveLab 13 elements grace period.I checked with support and still can’t figure out if I do.I bought WaveLab 12 elements on December 6 2025. I just activated

Outstanding upgrade once again, thank you to the Steinberg team and of course to @PG1 specifically. I’m not upgrading for the Atmos stuff (although it looks great), I’m upgrading because of the many time-saving workflow improvements! Thank you! This is a no-brainer even for people who aren’t worrying about Atmos right now! Rock on, Steinberg!

I will likely never use Atmos. I rarely do a .0 upgrade. But the UI improvements in the video screamed “Take my money!” I am a loyal customer. I do not understand the discount and I don’t need it. In fact, speaking as someone paranoid about the world writ large, it makes me slightly nervous… in an NI kinda way. Kidding. Sort of…

With Thanks and Gratitude.

So far so good here. Great price on the upgrade from 12 and it fixed some bugs that I had with playback/metering specific to my computer.

Thanks @PG1 for the update.! Not ready here for much Atmos stuff yet; but couldn’t refuse all the rest of the workflow additions etc., at very reasonable price - even without the sweet 15% discount.! Nice.
